INTRODUCTION
Performs in the scrub role during surgical procedures, following all established Nursing Standards and Hospital Policies. Assists with other patient care activities under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Assists with promoting teamwork with all members of the healthcare team. Performs duties in a manner consistent with St. Luke's Hospital mission and values.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Principle Accountabilities:
- Scrubs surgical procedures 80%
- Participates in checking/maintaining supplies and equipment, and the physical environment 10%
- Participates in committees, educational activities, special projects 3%
- Participates as preceptor for orientees and students in the scrub role 3%
- Performs clerical/computer tasks 2%
- Performs all other duties as assigned 2%

Physical Requirements
Employee is required to sit occasionally, stand continuously, and walk frequently. Employee must lift/carry light (20-lb maximum), medium (50-lb maximum) loads frequently, and over 100-lb loads occasionally with assistance. Employee is required to bend, squat, climb, reach forward and reach overhead frequently; kneel, lift from floor to waist and lift to overhead occasionally. Employee is required to perform duties involving repetitive action, and is required to perform simple grasping, pushing/pulling and fine manipulation frequently. Employee is occasionally exposed to the following environmental conditions: fumes, radiation, electrical hazard, and CRT terminal work. Employee is frequently exposed to blood-borne pathogens. Employee may be needed to work any shift due to 24-hour day, 7 days per week operation, and may be needed to work in other areas of Surgical Services as necessary.

The most significant of duties are included but this does not exclude occasional work assignments not mentioned, or developmental duties.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma/GED and 3 years experience, or Graduate from an accredited Surgical Tech School Program with Certification.
