Which sports companies sponsor H-2B visas in New Jersey?
New Jersey sports employers that have filed H-2B visa labor condition applications include operators of golf courses, ski and snowboard facilities, horse racing tracks, and stadium management companies. The New Jersey Devils organization at Prudential Center and venue operators near MetLife Stadium in the Meadowlands area have appeared in DOL disclosure data. Seasonal recreation businesses across the Jersey Shore and Highlands regions also regularly sponsor H-2B workers for summer and winter operational periods.
Which cities in New Jersey have the most sports H-2B sponsorship jobs?
Newark and the Meadowlands area in East Rutherford anchor New Jersey's major sports venue employment. The Jersey Shore corridor, including towns like Asbury Park and Cape May, generates significant seasonal sports and recreation H-2B demand in summer. Vernon Township in Sussex County, home to Mountain Creek Resort, produces winter sports H-2B filings. Horse racing facilities in Freehold and Monmouth Park in Oceanside also file seasonally for H-2B workers.
What types of sports roles typically qualify for H-2B sponsorship in New Jersey?
H-2B sponsorship in New Jersey's sports sector most commonly covers groundskeepers and turf maintenance workers at golf courses and athletic fields, ski slope and lift operators, stablehand and groom positions at equestrian facilities, and seasonal recreation attendants at shore resorts. These roles qualify because they are temporary or seasonal in nature, tied to a defined sports season, and reflect a genuine one-time or peak-load need rather than permanent workforce demand under DOL H-2B criteria.
How do I find sports H-2B sponsorship jobs in New Jersey?
Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for H-2B sponsorship jobs in New Jersey's sports and recreation sector, showing employers with verified DOL filing history so you can see which organizations have actually sponsored H-2B workers before. Search by location and visa type to surface active listings at venues, golf courses, ski resorts, and equestrian facilities across the state. Reviewing employer filing patterns through Migrate Mate helps you focus applications on companies with demonstrated H-2B sponsorship experience in New Jersey sports roles.
Are there any New Jersey-specific considerations for H-2B sports jobs?
New Jersey's H-2B sports employers must comply with the state's prevailing wage requirements, which can exceed federal DOL benchmarks for certain counties. The seasonal split between summer Shore employment and winter mountain resort work means petition filing windows differ significantly by region. New Jersey's dense metropolitan employment market also means DOL may scrutinize the temporary need certification more closely, requiring employers to document why the role cannot be filled by available local workers before the H-2B petition is approved.
What is the prevailing wage for H-2B sports jobs in New Jersey?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
