Labcorp is seeking a Cytogenetic Technologist Trainee to join our team in Santa Fe, NM.
Work Schedules: Sunday - Thursday: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm and Tuesday - Saturday: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
Training Schedule: 1st Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
This role comes with a $1,000 sign-on bonus.
New Grads Welcome – Full Training Provided.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform routine procedures including tissue culture, harvesting, slide making and banding, automated karyotyping, reagent preparation, and FISH processing, probing, and scoping.
- Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
- Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
- Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
- Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
- Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
- Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care.
- Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
- Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
- Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
- Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION
- Current or prior Labcorp experience.
- ASCP or AMT certification.
ADDITIONAL JOB STANDARDS
- Previous clinical laboratory testing experience.
- Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills.
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test.
