Which aerospace and defense companies sponsor E-3 visas in Ohio?
Ohio's largest E-3 sponsors in aerospace and defense include GE Aerospace, headquartered in Cincinnati, along with L3Harris Technologies, Northrop Grumman, and Leidos, which maintain significant Ohio operations. Smaller specialty suppliers clustered around the Dayton and Columbus corridors also carry active LCA filing histories. Sponsorship activity varies by contract cycle, so checking current DOL disclosure data gives the most accurate picture of which employers are actively filing.
Which cities in Ohio have the most aerospace and defense E-3 sponsorship jobs?
Dayton leads the state, driven by Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and the dense contractor ecosystem surrounding it. Cincinnati follows closely, anchored by GE Aerospace and its supply chain. Columbus supports defense IT, systems integration, and logistics roles tied to federal agency presence. Cleveland's advanced manufacturing base adds opportunities in propulsion, avionics components, and materials engineering for candidates with relevant specialist credentials.
What types of aerospace and defense roles typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship?
E-3 sponsorship requires the position to meet the specialty occupation standard, meaning a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field must be a normal requirement for the role. In aerospace and defense, this covers aerospace engineers, systems engineers, avionics engineers, software developers, structural analysts, program managers with technical degrees, and data scientists supporting defense contracts. General labor, technician, and trade roles typically do not qualify.
How do I find aerospace and defense E-3 sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate surfaces Ohio aerospace and defense employers with verified E-3 LCA filing history, so you can identify which companies have actively sponsored the visa type rather than cold-applying and hoping. Filter by state and industry to focus on Dayton, Cincinnati, and Columbus opportunities. Because E-3 requires a job offer before the visa application, targeting employers with a demonstrated sponsorship record significantly improves your chances of reaching the offer stage.
Are there any Ohio-specific considerations for E-3 sponsorship in aerospace and defense?
Many Ohio aerospace and defense employers hold federal contracts requiring security clearances, which can affect the hiring timeline and, in some cases, eligibility for non-U.S. citizens. E-3 holders are Australian citizens and can in principle apply for certain clearance levels, but eligibility depends on the specific contract and agency requirements. Candidates should clarify clearance expectations with each employer early in the process, as clearance-required roles narrow the pool of accessible positions.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 aerospace & defense jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
