YOUR IMPACT
Axon is seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Tax Technology to support and enhance technology enablement for our global tax function. This role will lead process improvement efforts, support tax-related systems and data flows, and help design scalable solutions across the broader tax technology ecosystem.
This is not a pure tax technical role or a pure IT role. The ideal candidate brings a strong mix of systems thinking, process improvement, problem-solving, and technical fluency, along with enough tax knowledge to operate effectively in a complex international environment. This person should be able to assess issues holistically, understand how systems and data interact, and help architect practical, scalable solutions that deliver value quickly.
Work Location
Hybrid Presence based near our US Hubs - Boston, San Francisco, Atlanta, Sterling, Seattle, New York City or Scottsdale. This role follows a hybrid schedule. We rely on in-person collaboration and ask that team members work onsite Tuesdays through Fridays, with the flexibility to work remotely on Mondays, unless there is an approved workplace accommodation. We believe that connection fuels innovation, and our in-office culture is designed to foster meaningful teamwork, mentorship, and shared success.
What You’ll Do
Tax Technology & Process Improvement:
- Partner with the tax team to identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and technology solutions that increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Evaluate end-to-end tax processes, data flows, and system dependencies to improve scalability across both manufacturing and SaaS business models.
- Support and enhance the tax technology stack, including D365, Salesforce, Vertex O Series, Sigma, Snowflake, and related platforms.
- Leverage AI and emerging technologies to improve workflows, documentation, research, and team productivity.
- Support reporting, testing, documentation, and change management related to tax technology initiatives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Tax, Finance, IT, and business stakeholders to define requirements and deliver solutions.
- Serve as a strategic partner and internal resource for tax technology and operational issues, balancing business needs with technical capabilities.
- Support global tax operations across a complex international environment with presence in both manufacturing and SaaS contexts.
What You Bring
- 8+ years of relevant experience in tax technology, finance technology, business systems, or a related function.
- Experience supporting a large multinational or complex global business.
- Strong background in process improvement, systems support, and solution design.
- Strong project management and cross-functional team collaboration skills.
- Experience with D365, Salesforce, Vertex O Series, Sigma, and Snowflake.
- Working knowledge of SQL and related data or automation tools. Familiarity with AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude, or similar tools.
- Intermediate-to-advanced SQL (not just query writing — schema awareness, joins, troubleshooting data pipeline issues), experience building or maintaining a data mart or reporting layer, and Sigma or similar tool dashboard development or administration.
- Tax experience preferred; including direct and indirect taxes globally.
- Systems architecture and problem-solving mindset - required.
- Alteryx experience a plus.
Benefits that Benefit You
- Competitive salary and 401k with employer match
- Discretionary paid time off
- Paid parental leave for all
- Medical, Dental, Vision plans
- Fitness Programs
- Emotional & Mental Wellness support
- Learning & Development programs

Which aerospace & defense companies sponsor E-3 visas in New York?
New York's defense sector has a strong track record of E-3 sponsorship, particularly on Long Island. Northrop Grumman's Bethpage and Melville sites, L3Harris Technologies in Hauppauge, and Collins Aerospace have all filed Labor Condition Applications for specialty occupation roles. Smaller defense contractors and systems integrators supporting programs at Grumman History Center and nearby naval facilities also appear in DOL disclosure data.
Which cities in New York have the most aerospace & defense E-3 sponsorship jobs?
Long Island accounts for the largest share of New York's aerospace and defense E-3 activity. Bethpage, Hauppauge, Melville, and Farmingdale host major program offices and engineering centers tied to defense contracts. The Hudson Valley, particularly around Owego and Endicott, also supports defense electronics work through IBM and BAE Systems. New York City itself sees some program management and business development roles.
What types of aerospace & defense roles typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship?
Roles that qualify under E-3's specialty occupation standard generally require at minimum a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. In aerospace and defense, this covers systems engineers, avionics engineers, electrical engineers, software engineers supporting embedded or real-time systems, mechanical design engineers, radar and signal processing specialists, and program analysts. O*NET occupation profiles can confirm job zone classifications for specific titles.
How do I find aerospace & defense E-3 sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate surfaces aerospace and defense roles in New York filtered by E-3 visa sponsorship history, using DOL Labor Condition Application filings to show which employers have sponsored Australian workers in comparable roles. This removes the guesswork of cold-applying to companies with no E-3 track record. Filter by industry and state to focus your search on New York's Long Island and Hudson Valley defense employers.
Are there any New York-specific or industry-specific considerations for E-3 sponsorship in aerospace & defense?
Security clearance eligibility is a practical factor in New York's defense sector. Many Long Island and Hudson Valley roles involve classified programs, and E-3 holders can apply for clearances, though the process takes time and outcomes are not guaranteed. New York State has no additional visa filing requirements beyond federal standards, but employers on defense contracts may have additional pre-employment background checks that extend onboarding timelines.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 aerospace & defense jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
