Which aerospace and defense companies sponsor E-3 visas in Massachusetts?
Several large defense contractors with significant Massachusetts operations have filed Labor Condition Applications for specialty occupation roles. Raytheon Technologies, headquartered in the state, is among the most active. General Dynamics Mission Systems, BAE Systems, L3Harris, and Draper Laboratory also operate engineering centers in the Greater Boston area and along the Route 128 technology corridor, where E-3 sponsorship for qualified candidates is part of established hiring practice.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most aerospace and defense E-3 sponsorship jobs?
The Route 128 corridor accounts for a high concentration of aerospace and defense employment, with Woburn, Waltham, Burlington, and Lexington home to major contractor facilities. Boston itself hosts program management and systems engineering offices. Cambridge draws defense-adjacent research roles through institutions like Draper Laboratory. Tewksbury is notable as a Raytheon hub, making it one of the most significant single-employer locations for defense engineering roles in the state.
How do I find aerospace and defense E-3 sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate lists aerospace and defense positions in Massachusetts filtered by employers with verified E-3 LCA filing history, so you can identify which companies have actively sponsored the visa for comparable roles. Because E-3 requires employer-filed Labor Condition Applications, focusing on contractors with a documented DOL filing record in Massachusetts is more efficient than applying broadly. Migrate Mate surfaces that filing data alongside open positions to help you target your search.
What types of aerospace and defense roles typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship?
E-3 sponsorship applies to specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. In aerospace and defense, that typically covers systems engineers, electrical and mechanical engineers, software engineers working on embedded or avionics systems, program analysts, RF and signal processing engineers, and cybersecurity professionals. Roles in quality assurance, configuration management, and systems integration can also qualify when the position requires a specific engineering or technical degree. O*NET occupation profiles can confirm the degree requirements for a given job title.
Are there any Massachusetts-specific considerations for E-3 sponsorship in aerospace and defense?
Many Massachusetts defense contractors hold federal contracts requiring security clearances. An E-3 visa authorizes lawful employment but does not itself grant access to classified information. Clearance eligibility for non-U.S. citizens is a separate determination made by the sponsoring agency or contractor under DOD guidelines, and not all roles are open to Australian nationals regardless of visa status. Confirming clearance requirements before applying to a specific role is an important step for anyone pursuing defense work in Massachusetts.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 aerospace & defense jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
