Which automotive companies sponsor visas in Oregon?
Daimler Trucks North America leads Oregon's automotive visa sponsorship, particularly for engineering and manufacturing roles at their Portland headquarters. Nike sponsors visas for automotive-related design and technology positions through their innovation partnerships. Electric vehicle startups in Portland and Hillsboro, along with component manufacturers like Precision Castparts, also provide sponsorship opportunities for qualified international professionals.
What visa types are most common for automotive roles in Oregon?
H-1B visas dominate Oregon automotive sponsorship for engineering positions, software development, and technical design roles. TN visas serve Canadian and Mexican professionals in mechanical engineering and project management positions. L-1 visas support international transfers within companies like Daimler, while O-1 visas occasionally apply to exceptional talent in electric vehicle innovation and autonomous systems development.
How to find automotive visa sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate specializes in connecting international professionals with Oregon automotive employers who sponsor visas. Focus your search on Portland's manufacturing hub, Hillsboro's tech corridor where automotive technology intersects with semiconductors, and emerging electric vehicle companies throughout the Willamette Valley. Oregon's growing EV sector creates expanding opportunities for international talent in engineering, battery technology, and sustainable transportation solutions.
Which Oregon cities have the most automotive sponsorship jobs?
Portland leads with Daimler Trucks North America headquarters and numerous automotive suppliers concentrated in the metro area. Hillsboro offers opportunities through Nike's automotive partnerships and tech companies developing vehicle systems. Corvallis provides niche opportunities through Oregon State University's automotive research programs, while smaller manufacturing hubs in Wilsonville and Tualatin support component suppliers seeking international talent.
What are Oregon's prevailing wage requirements for automotive visa roles?
Oregon automotive visa positions must meet Department of Labor prevailing wages, which vary significantly between Portland's higher-cost metro area and smaller manufacturing cities. Engineering roles typically command premium wages due to Oregon's competitive tech market influence. The state's lack of sales tax benefits international professionals, while Portland's urban growth boundary creates higher housing costs that employers often factor into compensation packages.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored automotive jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
