Job Purpose
The Director, Corporate Strategy & Mergers & Acquisitions will play a central role in shaping EnerSys’ long term growth strategy and executing value accretive M&A. This role partners closely with the executive leadership team to drive strategic planning, portfolio optimization, and disciplined capital allocation across EnerSys’ global energy systems, motive power, and specialty businesses.
The position is responsible for leading end to end M&A activity—including target identification, valuation, due diligence, deal execution, and post merger integration—while also supporting enterprise level strategy initiatives tied to growth, technology, and market expansion.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Corporate Strategy
- Support development and refinement of EnerSys’ corporate strategy, including long range planning, portfolio strategy, and growth priorities
- Conduct market, competitive, and technology analysis across energy storage, power electronics, services, software, and adjacent markets
- Evaluate organic and inorganic growth opportunities aligned with EnerSys’ strategic priorities, including technology expansion, vertical diversification, and geographic growth
- Develop strategic business cases and investment theses for executive leadership and Board review
- Partner with business unit leaders to translate strategy into executable initiatives and track progress against defined objectives
Mergers & Acquisitions
- Lead the end to end M&A process, from pipeline development through transaction close
- Identify, screen, and prioritize acquisition and divestiture opportunities aligned with EnerSys’ portfolio and capital allocation strategy
- Build and review detailed financial models, valuations, and synergy analyses
- Lead cross functional due diligence efforts across finance, legal, tax, operations, commercial, technology, and HR
- Coordinate and manage external advisors, including investment banks, consultants, and legal counsel
- Support negotiation of transaction structure, economics, and definitive agreements
Integration & Value Creation
- Partner with functional and business unit leaders to plan and execute post merger integration activities
- Establish integration roadmaps aligned with the deal thesis and synergy targets
- Track post close performance versus investment assumptions and identify opportunities for value realization
- Support continuous improvement of EnerSys’ M&A and integration playbooks
Executive & Board Engagement
- Prepare high quality materials for executive leadership and Board of Directors discussions
- Serve as a trusted thought partner to senior leaders across finance, operations, legal, and business units
- Support governance processes related to capital allocation, M&A approvals, and strategic reviews
Qualifications
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, or a related field
- 8–12+ years of experience in corporate development, corporate strategy, investment banking, private equity, management consulting, or related roles
- Demonstrated experience leading M&A transactions, including financial modeling and due diligence
- Strong analytical, financial, and strategic thinking capabilities
- Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, executive level recommendations
- Experience working effectively in a global, matrixed organization
PREFERRED
- MBA or advanced degree
- Experience in industrial, energy, power systems, battery, or technology enabled businesses
- Exposure to post merger integration and synergy realization
- Prior experience supporting executive leadership teams or Boards
