Tips for Finding CPT Jobs in Pennsylvania
Target Pennsylvania's large academic medical centers early
Jefferson Health, UPMC, and Penn Medicine regularly host CPT-eligible interns and research assistants. These institutions have established international student onboarding processes, making them more familiar with CPT authorization than smaller employers.
Coordinate with your DSO before applying
Pennsylvania employers will expect your CPT authorization letter before making an offer. Have a conversation with your Designated School Official about eligibility and timelines so you can communicate clearly with hiring managers during the interview process.
Look for roles tied to your program curriculum
CPT requires the work to be an integral part of your degree program. Engineering, finance, and computer science students at schools like Drexel, Carnegie Mellon, and Penn State have strong curricular frameworks that support CPT alignment with employer roles.
Use Migrate Mate to filter for CPT-friendly Pennsylvania employers
Migrate Mate's job board lets you filter roles by visa type and location, helping you identify Pennsylvania employers actively open to F-1 CPT candidates, saving time you'd otherwise spend cold-screening job listings for sponsorship willingness.
Leverage Philadelphia's financial services and consulting sector
Philadelphia hosts regional offices of major consulting and financial firms that frequently hire CPT interns. These structured programs often run on defined cycles, so apply three to four months before your intended start date to align with their intake calendars.
Engage your university's career center for employer referrals
Pennsylvania universities like Villanova, Temple, and Pitt maintain employer partnerships specifically designed around student work authorization, including CPT. Career centers often have a pre-vetted list of companies that have successfully onboarded CPT students before.

Healthcare, technology, financial services, and engineering sponsor the highest volume of F-1 CPT roles in Pennsylvania. Which cities in Pennsylvania have the most F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs?
Philadelphia and Pittsburgh account for the majority of F-1 CPT opportunities in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia leads in healthcare, finance, and consulting, while Pittsburgh is particularly active in technology, autonomous systems, and engineering. The Lehigh Valley and State College also have CPT-friendly employers tied to their university ecosystems.
What types of roles typically qualify for F-1 CPT sponsorship in Pennsylvania?
Roles in software engineering, data analysis, financial analysis, biomedical research, mechanical and electrical engineering, and healthcare administration commonly qualify for CPT in Pennsylvania. The position must be directly related to your major field of study, and the experience must be a required or integral part of your academic curriculum as defined by your institution.
How do I find F-1 CPT jobs in Pennsylvania?
Migrate Mate is designed for international students searching for visa-friendly roles and lets you filter by F-1 CPT and Pennsylvania specifically, surfacing employers who are already open to your work authorization. Beyond job boards, your university's career center, on-campus recruiting events, and co-op program partnerships are among the most reliable channels for finding verified CPT-eligible positions in the state.
Are there any Pennsylvania-specific considerations for F-1 CPT sponsorship?
Pennsylvania does not impose state-level restrictions on CPT beyond federal requirements, but the density of universities here means local employers receive a high volume of CPT applicants. Starting your outreach early, having your DSO documentation ready, and targeting employers with established co-op or intern programs, particularly in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, gives you a meaningful advantage in a competitive market.
