Which healthcare companies sponsor E-3 visas in Rhode Island?
Lifespan Health System, which includes Rhode Island Hospital and The Miriam Hospital, and Care New England, the parent of Women & Infants Hospital and Kent Hospital, are the state's largest healthcare employers with active LCA filing histories. CharterCARE Health Partners and smaller outpatient and rehabilitation networks also participate in E-3 sponsorship for qualifying specialty occupation roles.
Which cities in Rhode Island have the most healthcare E-3 sponsorship jobs?
Providence concentrates the majority of E-3 healthcare sponsorship activity, driven by Rhode Island Hospital, The Miriam Hospital, and Women & Infants Hospital. Pawtucket and Warwick have meaningful activity through Landmark Medical Center and Kent Hospital respectively. East Providence and Woonsocket host smaller facilities that periodically sponsor specialty occupation roles in nursing, therapy, and allied health.
What types of healthcare roles typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship in Rhode Island?
Roles that require at least a U.S. bachelor's degree or equivalent in a directly related field qualify as specialty occupations under the E-3. In Rhode Island healthcare, this commonly includes registered nurses with a BSN, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, medical laboratory scientists, and clinical pharmacists. General aide, technician, or support roles that do not require a specific bachelor's degree typically do not qualify.

Are there any Rhode Island-specific considerations for healthcare E-3 sponsorship?
Rhode Island requires healthcare professionals to hold valid state licensure before beginning practice, regardless of visa status. Registered nurses must be licensed by the Rhode Island Board of Nursing, and therapists must meet separate state credentialing requirements. Australian applicants should factor in credential evaluation timelines, since some Rhode Island licensing boards require foreign degree assessments through bodies such as CGFNS before issuing a license.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 healthcare jobs in Rhode Island?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
