PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Test Engineering Technician will be responsible for providing first level analysis, repair, and technical support for all test hardware and software issues in the Operations area. Included in this role is the responsibility to evaluate and analyze test data, as well as to recommend and implement test process improvements. In addition, the role will involve creation and review of test process documentation, support of Test Engineering in the New Product Introduction process, and assistance in driving Operations to meet agreed Quality and Production goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support repair technicians with guidance for resolving test hardware and software issues, with the goal of minimizing Operations downtime
- Escalate technical issues to internal engineering level personnel as required
- Directly participate in test plan development, test plan execution, results analysis, root cause identification, and reporting
- Analyze failure reports and make recommendations to improve product reliability and quality
- Train production technicians to test, troubleshoot and repair products
- Assist in pilot verification and implementation of New Product Introduction test processes
- Assist with setup of test lines and provide routine maintenance for those lines
- Determine and monitor stock level requirements for all Test Engineering spare parts, in order to provide optimal support to operations area
- Make good technical decisions and complete tasks and assignments with only general direction
- Work independently and within engineering practices to maintain, modify, and enhance existing quality methods & processes
- Act as a consultant for any questions that arise concerning equipment PM process
- Recognize problems that need further investigation; seek assistance when needed; demonstrate initiative and self-motivation
- Provide support for all tests and diagnostics utilized in facility
- Compliance to all Quanta Nashville policies and procedures (Housekeeping, Safety, ESD, etc.)
- Other duties as assigned by management.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of two (2) years of test experience in the electronics industry, preferably with computer systems, is required
- Server hardware and software knowledge
- Experience and solid understanding of the product test processes in a hardware product environment
- Ability to communicate technical issues effectively to internal Engineering and Quality teams
- Associates Degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent discipline is preferred
- Linux OS experience is preferred
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Experience with MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Proven knowledge and demonstrated application of engineering concepts and skills required
- Proven understanding of software systems, software applications, and the process required in producing product deliverables required
- Experience in testing methodologies and theories, test plan development, test case design, test execution practices, optimization of test coverage versus costs, data collection and root cause analysis techniques, and reporting practices required
- Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
- Strong sense of process, detail and follow through
- Strong set of problem solving and analytical skills
- Ability to multi-task across problem domains and various departments
- Ability to work independently and within a team
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Able to bend and stoop while troubleshooting servers in the rack
- Ability to walk and stand on concrete floors for long periods.
- Able to lift 25 lb servers in and out of racks
- Willing to operate a scissor lift
- Able to work in a noisy environment under a wide range of temperatures
