INTRODUCTION

Plant 101 - Dept 836 - 2nd shift

Production Technician - Dept. 836 - 2nd Shift - (M-Thurs 3:30pm - 2:00am) - Overtime as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• 6 months DENSO experience by service date
• Must not be on active discipline
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Successful completion of Production Technician technical test

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain effective communication with support departments (PM, PE, etc.)
• Work with maintenance on breakdowns if not engaged with another task
• Communicate any line issue with PR Team Leader so all are informed of any issues

Safety Responsibilities

• Identify and use appropriate PPE as required.
• Understand and perform repairs, alignments, and other jobs on production line, using an OMS or job aide ensuring all key safety points are followed.
• Assist others with safety concerns in their area (proper PPE, safety required equipment in area, etc.)
• Assess area for potential safety hazards (trip, fall, spill, and other hazards) and report/correct as needed

Quality Responsibilities

• Judge and report part specifications that are out of control limits
• Understand and evaluate line 5S condition (contamination prevention, scrap part introduction to line, etc.)
• Judge suspect parts against boundary samples as acceptable/unacceptable
• Ensure 5M1E changes are documented and inform Production Team Leader to confirm changes are acceptable.
• Judge and report no good scrap rate/high defect kick-out

Productivity Responsibilities

• Evaluate Cycle Time (CT) issues on responsible lines.
• Judge the need for equipment adjustment or tool replacement using production data from daily charts (PPAS, Daily Check sheet, Etc.) input and part checks.

Technical Responsibilities (not inclusive)

• Minor breakdown repairs
• Troubleshooting or repair limited to ability, training, and customer requirements (if clear line of direction and no assistance needed complete repair, if no clear path for repair Production Maintenance is to be contacted for support).
• Troubleshoot/Repair/Replace cylinders, valves, sensors
• Machine alignments
• Repair/Rebuild jigs
• Pneumatic troubleshooting &/or repair
• Repair chain conveyor
• Install/Replace conveyor belts
• Minor sheet metal fabrication
• Exchange dies
• Replace bearings, shafts, etc.
• Troubleshoot through PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) (read only access)
• Minor robot adjustment
• Keep daily record of activities detailing what and why incident occurred, and how the incident was repaired/handled (utilizing Nexus)
• Monitor machine checks and lubrications
• Preventative maintenance of machines
• Initial value check
• Control and monitor machine logs
• Periodic check of nuts, bolts, screw tightness
• Periodic check of belts, chains, etc. for wear
• Monitor cycle times of machines
• Implement CM’s if needed
• Active member of all TPM Kaizen teams in area assigned
• Gather data for job priority and present to management
• Assist in monthly report of activities with management providing detailed analysis and description
• Understand mechanical drawings
• Assist in training of other Production and/or Temporary associates
• Observe operators for correct procedure
• Ability to substitute in workstations to cover absenteeism

Additionally, position supports the following day-to-day activities:

• Control Chart Analysis
• Machine operations
• Operator Training
• Machine inspections (5s)
• Quality checks
• Machine Overhaul (supporting PE and PM Dept.’s)
• Monitoring machine cycle times

QUALIFICATIONS

Internal:

• 6 months of DENSO service
• Completion of technical skills test

External:

• Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing or technical work experience
• Completion of technical skills test

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications listed.

Education

• High school diploma or completion of high school equivalence exam required

WORK EXPERIENCE

• 6 months of DENSO for internal candidates or 3 years of manufacturing experience for external candidates

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of department procedures and terms
• Ability to learn and comprehend basic instruction and understand the meaning of DENSO terminology
• Perform basic arithmetic accurately and quickly
• Good organizational skills and time management
• Ability to learn basic computer skills (excel, word, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Ability to travel globally
• Technical Judgement Responsibilities:
• Ability to judge and report amount of time needed to repair equipment
• Ability to understand and evaluate the cause of problems with jigs, tools, and machines
• Ability to judge the need for equipment adjustment or tool replacement in the event of quality problem
• Ability to work overtime to support production and/or projects
