Which automotive companies sponsor Green Card visas in Tennessee?
Several major automotive employers in Tennessee have a track record of sponsoring permanent residency for qualified workers. Nissan's North American headquarters in Franklin, Volkswagen's assembly plant in Chattanooga, and General Motors Financial operations have all filed Green Card-related petitions. Tier-1 suppliers such as Bridgestone Americas, headquartered in Nashville, and Continental also operate in the state and have sponsored foreign national employees through employment-based green card categories.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most automotive Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Nashville and its surrounding metro, including Franklin and Smyrna, concentrate the highest number of automotive sponsorship opportunities due to the presence of OEM headquarters and large supplier operations. Chattanooga is significant given Volkswagen's assembly plant there. Spring Hill, home to a major GM manufacturing facility, also generates engineering and skilled trades openings. Smaller supplier clusters exist around Knoxville and Memphis, though sponsorship activity there is less consistent.
What types of automotive roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Tennessee?
Roles that require specialized technical education or expertise are the most common candidates for Green Card sponsorship. These typically include mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing engineers, quality assurance specialists, supply chain managers, software developers working on vehicle systems, and robotics or automation engineers. Production supervisors and skilled trades positions may qualify in some cases, particularly under EB-3 categories, though sponsorship is less common for those roles than for degree-requiring engineering and technical positions.
How do I find automotive Green Card sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters jobs by visa sponsorship type, including Green Card, and by industry and state. Searching on Migrate Mate for automotive roles in Tennessee surfaces employers who have indicated sponsorship willingness, saving time compared to manually reviewing job postings. Combining that with direct outreach to established Tennessee OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers like Bridgestone or Volkswagen Chattanooga is a practical approach.
Are there any Tennessee-specific considerations for automotive Green Card sponsorship?
Tennessee is a right-to-work state with a relatively low cost of living compared to coastal automotive hubs, which can influence employer compensation structures and hiring timelines. The state has actively recruited automotive investment, meaning the employer base is growing, but sponsorship decisions remain entirely at the employer's discretion and depend on their internal immigration policies. Tennessee does not impose state-level requirements on employer sponsorship, so federal immigration rules under USCIS and DOL govern the process entirely.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card automotive jobs in Tennessee?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
