INTRODUCTION
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is seeking Senior Infrastructure Engineers to design, build, and operate the high-performance virtual networking dataplane that underpins OCI gateway services. In this role, you will develop major C and C++ features for packet processing, routing, network address translation, gateway functionality, and security-policy enforcement. You will optimize CPU and memory efficiency, concurrency, latency, and throughput for production systems operating at cloud scale.
You will partner with networking, control-plane, infrastructure, security, and operations teams to build fault-tolerant distributed systems with strong tenant isolation and safe deployment practices. The role includes end-to-end feature ownership: architecture, implementation, testing, staged rollout, observability, on-call support, incident response, and continuous operational improvement. Experience with fast dataplane technologies such as DPDK, VirtIO, eBPF, XDP, SR-IOV, SmartNICs, or userspace packet-processing frameworks is especially valuable.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Dataplane Scalability and Performance
- Implement and enhance C and C++ components for OCI’s virtual networking dataplane, including routing, network address translation, network gateways, and security-policy enforcement.
- Build packet-processing features that support scalable, multi-tenant cloud networking with guidance from senior engineers.
- Profile and optimize CPU utilization, memory usage, concurrency, latency, and throughput in large-scale production environments.
- Contribute to fast dataplane development using technologies such as DPDK, VirtIO, Linux networking, SR-IOV, SmartNICs, or userspace packet-processing frameworks.
- Develop and maintain unit, integration, system, performance, and scale tests.
- Participate in design and code reviews, applying established patterns for performance, correctness, and maintainability.
Reliability and Availability
- Implement fault-tolerant networking components that handle failures, maintenance events, and software updates with minimal customer impact.
- Contribute to resilient designs using health checks, retries, timeouts, graceful draining, failover, and recovery mechanisms.
- Develop fault-injection, brownout, and recovery tests to validate service behavior.
- Support staged deployments, automated validation, monitoring, rollback, and recovery procedures.
Observability and Operational Excellence
- Build and maintain service metrics, alarms, dashboards, telemetry, canaries, and operational health checks.
- Diagnose Linux, networking, performance, and production issues using logs, metrics, packet captures, traces, profilers, and debugging tools.
- Create and improve runbooks, diagnostic tools, and automation for common operational issues.
- Participate in the team’s on-call rotation, incident response, root-cause analysis, and corrective-action follow-through.
Security and Multi-Tenant Isolation
- Apply established security and tenant-isolation practices to dataplane and gateway features.
- Help identify and remediate security, reliability, and operational risks.
- Maintain technical documentation and follow applicable security, compliance, and change-management processes.
Automation and Change Management
- Maintain automation and infrastructure-as-code used to build, test, deploy, and operate the service.
- Implement automated checks and safeguards for configuration changes, software releases, and rollback procedures.
- Own assigned features through implementation, testing, deployment, production validation, and support.
Core Responsibilities
Planning and Execution
- Plan and deliver assigned work with limited supervision, identifying dependencies and risks early.
- Manage priorities and adjust execution as requirements, timelines, or production needs change.
- Communicate progress, blockers, and technical decisions clearly.
Collaboration and Partnership
- Work closely with networking, control-plane, infrastructure, security, and operations teams.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, incident reviews, and knowledge-sharing activities.
- Document technical decisions and contribute to team standards and best practices.
Problem Solving
- Independently troubleshoot standard and moderately complex issues using established engineering practices.
- Analyze data from logs, metrics, traces, packet captures, and tests to identify root causes.
- Escalate complex cross-service issues appropriately while contributing to their resolution.
Continuous Learning and Improvement
- Build expertise in C/C++, systems programming, cloud networking, Linux, and high-performance dataplane technologies.
- Seek feedback and apply it to improve technical and operational skills.
- Identify practical opportunities to improve testing, tooling, deployment, observability, and team workflows.

Tips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship Jobs in Tennessee
Target PERM-Active Industries First
Tennessee's heaviest Green Card sponsors are concentrated in healthcare, advanced manufacturing, and engineering. Prioritizing roles in these sectors means you're targeting employers already familiar with PERM labor certification and long-term sponsorship commitments.
Research Employer PERM Filing History
The Department of Labor's OFLC disclosure data shows which Tennessee employers have filed PERM applications by job title and location. Reviewing this data before applying tells you whether a company has an established sponsorship track record.
Focus on Nashville and Memphis Metro Areas
Nashville's healthcare corridor and Memphis's logistics and distribution hub account for a large share of Tennessee's sponsored roles. Concentrating your search on these metros increases your exposure to employers with active immigration programs.
Look for Roles Requiring Specialized Degrees
PERM sponsorship is most common for positions requiring specific bachelor's or advanced degrees where U.S. workers are demonstrably scarce. Software engineers, physical therapists, and specialty nurses in Tennessee frequently appear in PERM filings.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter by Sponsorship Willingness
Searching broadly for Tennessee jobs wastes time on employers who won't sponsor. Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for Green Card sponsoring employers, so every application goes to a company already open to sponsoring permanent residence.
Engage With Tennessee's University Research Institutions
The University of Tennessee and Vanderbilt University Medical Center are among the state's most consistent Green Card sponsors for research and clinical roles. These institutions have established legal teams experienced in navigating the full PERM and I-140 process.

Which industries in Tennessee sponsor the most Green Card visas?
Healthcare, advanced manufacturing, and information technology account for the largest share of Green Card sponsorship in Tennessee. Hospital systems in Nashville and Memphis regularly sponsor nurses, physicians, and allied health professionals. Automotive suppliers concentrated around Middle Tennessee frequently sponsor engineers and operations specialists through the PERM labor certification process.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Nashville leads the state by a wide margin, driven by its large healthcare sector and growing technology industry. Memphis follows, with significant sponsorship activity in logistics, distribution, and healthcare. Knoxville contributes sponsorship activity through its manufacturing base and the University of Tennessee system, particularly for research and engineering roles.
What types of roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Tennessee?
Roles that require a specific degree and face documented shortages of qualified U.S. workers are most likely to qualify. In Tennessee, this commonly includes registered nurses, software developers, electrical and mechanical engineers, physical therapists, and specialized manufacturing technicians. Positions where the employer can demonstrate recruitment efforts failed to find qualified domestic candidates are strong PERM candidates.
How do I find Green Card sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship type, so you can search for Tennessee employers actively willing to sponsor Green Cards rather than sorting through listings that don't address sponsorship at all. Pairing Migrate Mate with a review of DOL OFLC disclosure data for Tennessee PERM filings gives you the clearest picture of which local employers have a real sponsorship history.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card jobs in Tennessee?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
