Search Aerospace & Defense Jobs in TennesseeAerospace & Defense Green Card Sponsorship Jobs in Tennessee: Frequently Asked Questions
Which aerospace and defense companies sponsor Green Cards in Tennessee?
Boeing, Lockheed Martin, L3Harris, Raytheon Technologies, and Northrop Grumman all have Tennessee operations and documented Green Card sponsorship histories in aerospace and defense roles. Oak Ridge National Laboratory and its contractor network also sponsor permanent residency for research scientists and engineers. Sponsorship typically follows PERM labor certification and is most common for roles requiring specialized technical degrees or security clearances.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most aerospace and defense Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Nashville and its suburbs host a concentration of defense contractors and aviation-adjacent employers with active sponsorship programs. Oak Ridge, anchored by the Department of Energy's national laboratory complex, draws heavily from international technical talent and supports Green Card pathways. Tullahoma, home to the Arnold Engineering Development Complex, and Chattanooga also have notable aerospace and defense hiring with sponsorship activity.
What types of aerospace and defense roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Tennessee?
Roles that qualify most consistently include aerospace engineers, systems engineers, electrical and mechanical engineers, software developers working on defense platforms, and research scientists in materials or propulsion. Program managers and quality assurance specialists in defense manufacturing also see sponsorship. These positions generally require at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field, and many require or favor active U.S. security clearances, which can affect sponsorship timelines.
How do I find aerospace and defense Green Card sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Migrate Mate filters aerospace and defense jobs in Tennessee by Green Card sponsorship history, surfacing employers with verified PERM and labor certification filings in this industry. Rather than sorting through general job listings manually, you can search specifically for Tennessee aerospace and defense roles where employers have an established record of sponsoring permanent residency, making it easier to target companies already familiar with the Green Card process for technical and engineering talent.
Are there state-specific or industry-specific factors that affect Green Card sponsorship in Tennessee's aerospace and defense sector?
Tennessee's concentration of Department of Defense contractors and federal laboratory work introduces a significant consideration: many roles require U.S. security clearances, which are generally unavailable to non-U.S. citizens and can restrict which positions sponsor Green Cards. Employers often target sponsorship for roles that do not require clearances or for candidates already progressing through the naturalization process. The PERM labor certification process applies uniformly under federal DOL rules regardless of the state.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card aerospace & defense jobs in Tennessee?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
