Which agriculture companies sponsor Green Card visas in Tennessee?
Large integrated agribusiness and food processing companies are the most consistent Green Card sponsors in Tennessee's agriculture sector. Tyson Foods operates processing facilities in the state and has a documented history of sponsoring employment-based Green Cards. Smithfield Foods, agricultural cooperatives, and crop science firms with Tennessee operations also sponsor, primarily for roles requiring specialized technical or scientific qualifications.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most agriculture Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Memphis and the surrounding Shelby County area lead in agriculture-related sponsorship activity, given the concentration of food processing and agribusiness operations in West Tennessee. Jackson and Dyersburg are centers for row crop production and associated agribusiness. In Middle Tennessee, Nashville serves as a hub for agricultural administration, food science, and corporate agribusiness functions that more commonly support Green Card sponsorship.
What types of agriculture roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Tennessee?
Roles that typically support Green Card sponsorship in Tennessee agriculture include food scientists, agricultural engineers, agronomists, plant pathologists, and veterinarians. Quality assurance managers and food safety specialists at processing facilities are also common sponsored positions. General farm labor roles rarely qualify for employment-based Green Cards, as sponsorship is most common where the position requires a specific degree or advanced technical expertise.
How do I find agriculture Green Card sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters agriculture Green Card sponsorship jobs in Tennessee by visa type and industry, which saves significant time compared to searching general job listings. You can browse current openings from Tennessee employers who have indicated sponsorship willingness for permanent residence. Checking DOL PERM disclosure data separately can also help you verify which Tennessee employers have sponsored Green Cards historically.
Are there state-specific or industry-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in Tennessee agriculture?
Tennessee agriculture's heavy focus on food processing means many sponsorships move through the EB-3 skilled worker category, which requires PERM labor certification and can involve multi-year timelines depending on your country of birth. Tennessee has no state-level immigration program, so all sponsorship follows federal employment-based processes. Seasonal or contract agricultural positions rarely lead to Green Card sponsorship, as the process requires a permanent, full-time job offer.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card agriculture jobs in Tennessee?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
