Which agriculture companies sponsor Green Card visas in Massachusetts?
Cranberry growers and cooperative members in Plymouth and Barnstable counties, commercial greenhouse operations in Worcester County, and food processing facilities in the Pioneer Valley region have histories of sponsoring agricultural workers for permanent residence. Large nursery operations and turf farms in central and eastern Massachusetts also appear in Department of Labor PERM filing records for agricultural positions.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most agriculture Green Card sponsorship jobs?
The Pioneer Valley, anchored by cities like Northampton, Amherst, and Greenfield, concentrates the most agricultural employment in Massachusetts. Wareham and surrounding Cape Cod communities are centers for cranberry production. Worcester County towns including Millis and Milford host greenhouse and nursery operations. These regions generate the majority of PERM labor certification filings for agricultural roles in the state.
What types of agriculture roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Massachusetts?
Farm supervisors, greenhouse production managers, agricultural technicians, and skilled crop workers are the roles most commonly sponsored through the EB-3 category in Massachusetts. Positions requiring documented experience with specific crops, equipment operation, or post-harvest handling tend to appear in PERM filings. Food processing and quality control roles at facilities tied to Massachusetts agricultural output also appear in permanent residence sponsorship records.
How do I find agriculture Green Card sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate aggregates agriculture jobs where employers have indicated Green Card sponsorship availability, filtered specifically for Massachusetts. Searching on Migrate Mate lets you focus on roles in cranberry production, greenhouse operations, and food processing without sorting through listings that offer no sponsorship path. Reviewing DOL PERM disclosure data can also help identify which Massachusetts agricultural employers have filed labor certifications historically.
Are there state-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in Massachusetts agriculture?
Massachusetts agriculture is heavily seasonal in sectors like cranberry harvesting, which affects whether a position qualifies as permanent employment, a requirement for most Green Card categories. PERM labor certification requires employers to demonstrate no qualified U.S. workers are available, which can be more demanding in regions near Boston where labor markets are competitive. Year-round operations such as commercial greenhouses and food processing facilities are generally better positioned to support permanent residence sponsorship than purely seasonal farms.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card agriculture jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
