Which biotech and pharma companies in Utah sponsor E-3 visas?
Utah's most active E-3 sponsors in biotech and pharma include Recursion Pharmaceuticals, headquartered in Salt Lake City, along with contract research organizations and medical device firms operating along the Wasatch Front. Larger employers with established immigration programs, such as those in Utah County's life sciences corridor, are generally more structured for E-3 sponsorship than early-stage startups, which may require more lead time to set up the Labor Condition Application process.
Which cities in Utah have the most biotech and pharma E-3 sponsorship jobs?
Salt Lake City and the broader Wasatch Front, including Provo, Orem, and American Fork, concentrate the majority of Utah's biotech and pharma employment. The Silicon Slopes corridor in Utah County has attracted a growing cluster of life sciences and health tech companies. Ogden also hosts pharmaceutical manufacturing operations. Salt Lake City's proximity to the University of Utah medical campus makes it particularly active for clinical and research-oriented E-3 roles.
What types of biotech and pharma roles typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship?
E-3 sponsorship requires a specialty occupation, meaning the role must normally require at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. In biotech and pharma, qualifying roles commonly include research scientists, bioinformaticians, regulatory affairs specialists, clinical research associates, pharmacovigilance analysts, and quality assurance engineers. Roles in computational biology and drug discovery, which are increasingly prominent in Utah's sector, also align well with E-3 specialty occupation criteria as assessed by USCIS.
How do I find biotech and pharma E-3 sponsorship jobs in Utah?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search, letting you filter for E-3 sponsoring employers in Utah's biotech and pharma sector. Because E-3 sponsorship requires employer action on the Labor Condition Application, targeting companies with documented sponsorship history matters. Migrate Mate surfaces employers with prior LCA filings in relevant occupation codes, so you can prioritize outreach to Utah life sciences companies already familiar with the E-3 process rather than starting from scratch.
Are there any state-specific or industry-specific considerations for E-3 sponsorship in Utah's biotech sector?
Utah does not impose state-level visa sponsorship requirements beyond federal obligations, but employers filing a Labor Condition Application must post public notices at the Utah worksite. In biotech and pharma, roles involving controlled substances or certain FDA-regulated activities may require additional credentialing independent of the visa process. Utah's life sciences ecosystem benefits from proximity to the University of Utah and BYU research programs, which can influence how employers approach specialty occupation justifications for research-heavy E-3 positions.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 biotech & pharma jobs in Utah?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
