Which gaming and esports companies in Washington sponsor H-1B visas?
Microsoft and Nintendo of America are among the most consistent H-1B sponsors in Washington's gaming sector, with DOL Labor Condition Application filings spanning game development, software engineering, and product roles. Smaller studios concentrated in Seattle and Bellevue, including 343 Industries and Bungie, have also filed LCAs for specialized roles. Checking OFLC disclosure data by employer name gives the most accurate picture of past sponsorship activity.
Which cities in Washington have the most gaming and esports H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Seattle, Bellevue, and Redmond account for the majority of H-1B sponsorship activity in Washington's gaming and esports sector. Redmond is home to Microsoft's Xbox division and Nintendo of America's North American headquarters. Seattle hosts a wide range of independent studios and esports companies. Bellevue has grown significantly as a studio hub, with several mid-size developers maintaining active H-1B hiring programs in engineering and design.
What types of gaming and esports roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Washington?
Roles that qualify for H-1B sponsorship must meet the USCIS specialty occupation standard, requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. In gaming and esports, this typically covers software engineers, game client and server developers, machine learning engineers, technical artists with specialized tooling backgrounds, data analysts, and platform infrastructure engineers. General design or community management roles without a specific degree requirement are less likely to meet the threshold.
How do I find gaming and esports H-1B sponsorship jobs in Washington?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search, letting you filter H-1B sponsorship jobs by state, visa type, and industry, including gaming and esports roles in Washington. Because Migrate Mate surfaces employers with verified DOL Labor Condition Application filing history, you can focus on companies that have actually sponsored H-1B workers in the gaming sector rather than those that only claim to be open to sponsorship.
Are there state-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in Washington's gaming industry?
Washington has no state-level visa sponsorship requirements separate from federal H-1B rules, but the state's concentration of large technology employers means many gaming studios operate within HR structures already familiar with LCA filing, prevailing wage obligations under DOL, and USCIS petition timelines. Washington's strong software engineering labor market also means prevailing wage benchmarks, as reflected in the OFLC Wage Search, tend to be set at competitive levels for specialized gaming roles.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B gaming & esports jobs in Washington?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
