Which gaming and esports companies sponsor H-1B visas in Florida?
Several established gaming companies operate in Florida with documented H-1B visa filing histories. Electronic Arts has a studio presence in the state, and Konami Gaming maintains operations tied to its broader U.S. footprint. Smaller independent studios, esports event organizers, and technology vendors serving the gaming sector in Orlando and Tampa have also filed H-1B petitions. Sponsorship willingness varies by company size, role type, and internal immigration policy.
Which cities in Florida have the most gaming and esports H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Orlando leads Florida for gaming and esports H-1B activity, supported by Full Sail University's talent pipeline, a dense cluster of simulation and entertainment technology firms, and proximity to major convention venues. Tampa has a growing independent game development scene. Miami attracts esports-focused companies and Latin American gaming publishers establishing U.S. headquarters, making it relevant for business, marketing, and operations roles requiring H-1B sponsorship.
What types of gaming and esports roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning it typically demands at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. In gaming and esports, qualifying roles commonly include software engineers, gameplay programmers, technical artists, data analysts, UX designers, and cybersecurity specialists. Esports roles in broadcast technology, platform engineering, and competitive operations analytics may also qualify. General management, community management, and entry-level content roles less commonly meet the specialty occupation standard.
How do I find gaming and esports H-1B sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate lets you filter gaming and esports jobs in Florida by H-1B sponsorship history, so you can see which employers have actually filed Labor Condition Applications for comparable roles rather than relying on company career pages alone. This is particularly useful in Florida's fragmented gaming market, where sponsorship-willing studios aren't always the most publicly visible. Filtering by city, role type, and visa category helps narrow results to employers whose filing history matches your specialty.
Are there any Florida-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in gaming and esports?
Florida has no state income tax, which affects prevailing wage comparisons since OFLC Wage Search data reflects gross compensation benchmarks without state tax adjustment. Florida's gaming sector skews toward simulation, defense-adjacent technology, and entertainment rather than console publishing, so the dominant specialty occupation categories differ from California or Washington. Employers in Florida's esports venue and event management segment are often smaller companies, and smaller employers may have less established H-1B infrastructure than large technology firms.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B gaming & esports jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
