Which aerospace and defense companies sponsor H-1B visas in Florida?
Florida's largest H-1B visa sponsors in aerospace and defense include Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon Technologies, L3Harris Technologies, and Siemens Government Technologies. Defense contractors with NASA partnerships on the Space Coast are particularly active sponsors. Smaller defense-focused engineering firms and subcontractors also file H-1B petitions, especially for highly specialized roles in avionics, systems engineering, and software development.
Which cities in Florida have the most aerospace and defense H-1B sponsorship jobs?
The Space Coast corridor, anchored by Melbourne and Titusville near Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral, is Florida's densest concentration of aerospace and defense H-1B roles. Orlando is a significant hub for defense simulation, training systems, and technology contractors. Tampa and St. Petersburg host defense firms tied to U.S. Central Command and MacDill Air Force Base, generating consistent demand for engineering and intelligence-related positions.
What types of aerospace and defense roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Roles that typically qualify require a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific technical field directly tied to the position. In aerospace and defense, this includes aerospace engineers, systems engineers, electrical and avionics engineers, software engineers, structural analysts, and defense systems architects. Positions requiring specialized knowledge in propulsion, radar systems, satellite communications, or cybersecurity tend to meet the H-1B specialty occupation standard most clearly.
How do I find aerospace and defense H-1B sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate is specifically built for international job seekers and filters aerospace and defense H-1B sponsorship jobs in Florida by employer, role type, and location. Rather than sorting through general job boards, Migrate Mate surfaces positions where employers have a documented history of H-1B sponsorship, saving significant research time for candidates targeting Florida's Space Coast, Orlando, or Tampa defense corridors.
Are there any Florida-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in aerospace and defense?
Many Florida aerospace and defense roles involve work on government contracts requiring security clearances. Employers generally cannot sponsor non-U.S. citizens for clearances above the confidential level, and many sensitive positions are restricted to U.S. persons entirely. This means H-1B candidates should focus on roles explicitly open to non-citizens, typically in commercial aerospace, software development, systems integration, and unclassified defense research, where sponsorship remains actively available.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B aerospace & defense jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
