Which airlines companies sponsor H-1B visas in Florida?
American Airlines, United Airlines, Spirit Airlines, and JetBlue have historically filed H-1B petitions in Florida, primarily for technical, engineering, and IT roles supporting their Florida hubs and operations centers. Cargo carriers and MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul) operators with Florida facilities have also appeared in Department of Labor disclosure data as H-1B sponsors. Sponsorship activity varies year to year and is not guaranteed for every open role.
Which cities in Florida have the most airlines H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Miami leads the state for airlines H-1B activity, driven by its status as a major international hub and home to significant airline operations and maintenance facilities. Fort Lauderdale and Orlando follow closely, with Fort Lauderdale anchored by Spirit Airlines' headquarters and Orlando supported by its busy international airport and growing aviation services sector. Tampa also sees periodic H-1B filings from regional carriers and MRO companies.
What types of airlines roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship in the airlines industry is typically reserved for specialty occupation roles requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Common qualifying positions include aerospace engineers, avionics systems engineers, software developers supporting airline operations platforms, data analysts, cybersecurity specialists, and network infrastructure roles. Front-line positions such as pilots, flight attendants, and baggage handlers generally do not meet the specialty occupation standard required for H-1B classification.
How do I find airlines H-1B sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by visa type (H-1B), industry (airlines), and state (Florida) to see current openings from employers with a documented history of sponsoring H-1B petitions. Because airlines hiring in Florida is concentrated in a handful of metro areas and roles, filtering by city, such as Miami or Fort Lauderdale, can help you target the highest-activity markets. Migrate Mate updates listings regularly so you're seeing current opportunities.
Are there any Florida-specific or airlines-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship?
Florida's aviation sector is heavily oriented toward international routes and MRO services, which shapes the types of H-1B roles that come open most frequently. Because Miami International Airport is one of the busiest international gateways in the U.S., employers there tend to have more experience with international workforce hiring and H-1B processes than carriers at smaller regional airports. That said, H-1B petitions in this industry still require employer initiation, DOL Labor Condition Application approval, and USCIS review, regardless of location.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B airlines jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
