Which transportation companies sponsor H-1B visas in Florida?
Florida-based transportation employers with a history of H-1B sponsorship include Ryder System, Carnival Corporation, American Airlines (MIA hub), LATAM Airlines Group, and freight and logistics firms operating out of PortMiami and Port Everglades. Aerospace and aviation maintenance companies near Orlando and Fort Lauderdale, including those supporting Boeing and Lockheed Martin supply chains, have also filed H-1B petitions for specialized technical roles.
Which cities in Florida have the most transportation H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Miami leads by a significant margin, driven by its seaport activity, international airline operations, and freight forwarding industry. Tampa is a strong secondary market with port logistics, trucking, and supply chain operations. Orlando has notable activity in aviation maintenance and aerospace logistics. Fort Lauderdale, home to Port Everglades and a busy international airport, also generates consistent demand for sponsored transportation professionals.
What types of transportation roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship in transportation is generally reserved for specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Common qualifying roles include transportation engineers, logistics systems analysts, supply chain operations managers, aviation safety engineers, maritime operations specialists, and fleet technology analysts. Roles that require only a general degree or no degree at all are unlikely to meet the specialty occupation standard USCIS applies.
How do I find transportation H-1B sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters listings by visa sponsorship type, so you can search directly for H-1B transportation roles in Florida without sorting through employers who don't sponsor. The platform surfaces positions at Florida seaports, logistics companies, and aviation employers that have a documented pattern of H-1B filings, saving you significant time in your search.
Are there any Florida-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in transportation?
Florida's heavy international trade activity means many transportation employers are experienced with foreign national hires and familiar with H-1B requirements. However, port and aviation roles sometimes involve security clearance or TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) requirements, which can add processing time alongside the H-1B petition. Candidates should confirm with prospective employers whether these credentialing steps affect their onboarding timeline.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B transportation jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
