Which consumer goods companies sponsor F-1 OPT visas in Wisconsin?
Several large consumer goods employers in Wisconsin have a track record of hiring international students on OPT. SC Johnson, headquartered in Racine, regularly recruits in supply chain and R&D. Kohl's in Menomonee Falls hires for analytics and merchandising. Kraft Heinz has a presence in the Milwaukee area. Sponsorship is not guaranteed and depends on role, headcount, and employer policy at the time of hiring.

Milwaukee is the primary hub, with the largest concentration of consumer goods employers and corporate functions spanning marketing, finance, and operations. Racine is notable for SC Johnson's global headquarters. Madison offers opportunities tied to the university research corridor and regional retail operations. Smaller markets like Green Bay and Kenosha also have food manufacturing and distribution employers that occasionally hire OPT candidates.
What types of consumer goods roles typically qualify for F-1 OPT sponsorship?
Roles that align directly with a degree field are the strongest fit for OPT authorization. Common qualifying positions in consumer goods include supply chain analyst, data analyst, product development engineer, financial analyst, marketing analyst, and quality assurance specialist. Hands-on technical and quantitative roles tend to be easiest to connect to a specific degree, which is what OPT requires. General management or sales roles with no degree-field tie are harder to justify.

Beyond browsing Migrate Mate, targeting Wisconsin-based employers with established international hiring programs and applying during peak recruiting cycles, typically fall for full-time roles, improves your chances of finding a match before your OPT window closes.
Are there any Wisconsin-specific or consumer goods-specific considerations for F-1 OPT sponsorship?
Wisconsin's consumer goods sector is heavily weighted toward food and beverage, household products, and retail, industries that tend to hire OPT students in technical and analytical functions more readily than in sales-heavy roles. STEM OPT extension eligibility depends on whether your degree qualifies under the DHS STEM designated degree list, not just on the employer or industry. Students in engineering, data science, or chemistry programs often have an advantage when applying to R&D and operations roles at Wisconsin manufacturers.
