Which construction companies sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin-based firms with documented sponsorship activity in construction and engineering include Mortenson Construction, Miron Construction, J.H. Findorff & Son, and MSA Professional Services. Larger national firms operating in Wisconsin, such as Turner Construction and Gilbane Building Company, also have established sponsorship infrastructure. STEM OPT authorization requires the role to fall under a qualifying SOC code and the employer to be enrolled in E-Verify.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most construction F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee leads in construction sponsorship volume, driven by ongoing commercial, infrastructure, and mixed-use development projects. Madison follows closely, with significant activity tied to university campus construction and state government contracts. Green Bay and Waukesha also see consistent hiring in civil and structural engineering roles. Smaller markets like Eau Claire and Appleton have emerging opportunities tied to regional manufacturing facility and healthcare construction projects.
What types of construction roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Roles that commonly qualify include civil engineer, structural engineer, construction project engineer, site engineer, and construction technology specialist. These positions require a degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related STEM field and must align with a qualifying SOC code recognized by USCIS. General construction trades and non-degree field supervisor roles typically do not meet STEM OPT eligibility criteria. The O*NET occupational database lists qualifying job zone classifications.
How do I find construction F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate filters construction job listings specifically for F-1 STEM OPT eligibility in Wisconsin, showing verified employer sponsorship history sourced from DOL Labor Condition Application data. This lets you focus on companies that have previously sponsored similar roles rather than applying broadly. Search by city, role type, or firm size to narrow results to engineering and project management positions at Wisconsin construction employers actively filing for STEM-eligible candidates.
Are there state-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in Wisconsin's construction industry?
Wisconsin does not impose additional state licensing requirements that specifically affect STEM OPT eligibility, but civil and structural engineers working on licensed design projects must eventually obtain a Professional Engineer license from the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services. Employers working on federally funded infrastructure projects in Wisconsin are required to use E-Verify, which is a mandatory condition for STEM OPT authorization. Project-based roles with defined end dates may affect the continuity of STEM OPT employment documentation.
