Which retail companies sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas in Wisconsin?
Kohl's, headquartered in Menomonee Falls, is Wisconsin's largest retail employer and has an established record of sponsoring international workers in technology and data roles. Regional grocers like Kwik Trip and Festival Foods, along with national chains operating distribution and corporate offices in Wisconsin, also appear in DOL Labor Condition Application filings for STEM-eligible positions.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most retail F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee and its suburbs, particularly Menomonee Falls and Brookfield, concentrate the highest number of retail corporate and technology roles, largely due to Kohl's headquarters and supporting vendors. Madison follows as a secondary market, driven by its university ecosystem and growing retail technology presence. Green Bay and Appleton offer opportunities at regional retail and grocery operations with STEM-relevant supply chain functions.
What types of retail roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Roles that qualify must fall under STEM-designated SOC codes, meaning the position requires a degree in a STEM field and the work itself is technical in nature. In retail, qualifying roles typically include data analyst, merchandise planning analyst, supply chain engineer, software developer, e-commerce analyst, and business intelligence specialist. General store management, sales associate, and customer service positions do not meet the STEM OPT eligibility criteria.
How do I find retail F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate filters retail job listings by visa type, including F-1 STEM OPT, and by state, so you can search specifically for verified sponsoring employers in Wisconsin without sorting through irrelevant postings. Because sponsorship patterns change, using a platform that cross-references DOL Labor Condition Application filing history for retail employers in Wisconsin gives you a more accurate picture than general job boards.
Are there any Wisconsin-specific or retail-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Wisconsin does not impose state-level immigration requirements beyond federal rules, but retail employers here tend to concentrate STEM-eligible roles at corporate headquarters and regional distribution centers rather than individual store locations. STEM OPT authorization requires your employer to be enrolled in E-Verify, your role to align with your degree field, and your DSO to update your SEVIS record. Seasonal or temporary retail positions rarely meet the full-time employment requirement for STEM OPT.
