Which education employers in Wisconsin sponsor TN visas?
The University of Wisconsin system, including flagship campuses in Madison and Milwaukee, is among the most active TN sponsors in Wisconsin's education sector. Other employers include Marquette University, Wisconsin's technical college system (WTCS), and larger K-12 districts such as Milwaukee Public Schools and Madison Metropolitan School District. Private schools and nonprofit educational organizations also sponsor TN visas, though less frequently than public institutions.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most education TN sponsorship jobs?
Madison and Milwaukee account for the largest share of education TN sponsorship activity in Wisconsin. Madison is home to the University of Wisconsin-Madison and several research-focused institutions. Milwaukee hosts Marquette University, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and the state's largest K-12 district. Green Bay, Oshkosh, and Eau Claire also offer opportunities through regional UW campuses and growing school districts, though at lower volume than the two major metros.
What types of education roles typically qualify for TN sponsorship in Wisconsin?
TN visa eligibility in education requires that the role fall within a recognized TN occupation category. College and university faculty, scientific researchers, and school counselors with qualifying graduate degrees are commonly approved. Secondary and post-secondary teaching positions tied to a specific academic discipline with a matching degree field are the most straightforward cases. General K-12 classroom teaching roles can qualify under the Teacher category, which requires a baccalaureate degree and a teaching license or certification recognized in the state where the individual will teach.
How do I find education TN sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for TN visa holders and lists education jobs in Wisconsin where employers are open to TN sponsorship. Rather than filtering through general job boards, Migrate Mate lets you search by visa type and state, so you can focus on Wisconsin education roles that match your TN category. Positions at UW campuses, technical colleges, and K-12 districts in Madison and Milwaukee appear regularly.
Are there any Wisconsin-specific considerations for TN sponsorship in education?
Wisconsin requires teachers in K-12 public schools to hold a license issued by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, which is a condition for TN eligibility under the Teacher category. Canadian nationals can present qualifying documents at a port of entry, while Mexican nationals must apply through a U.S. consulate abroad. Wisconsin's large public university system means academic and research roles are more plentiful here than in many states, but each position still requires the employer to formally support the TN application.
