Senior Level VP Business Development Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a senior level vp business development job?
Employers at this level want candidates who have owned a full business development function, not just contributed to one. That means demonstrable experience building pipelines, closing complex deals, and setting the partnerships or market-entry strategy your team executed. Strong candidates also show they have developed junior talent, influenced cross-functional decisions, and can speak to the metrics that moved because of their leadership.
Which companies hire senior level vp business developments?
Companies hiring senior level vp business developments right now include BKF Engineers, JPMorganChase, and EXL, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Hiring at this level covers growth-stage companies building out their commercial leadership for the first time and established enterprises replacing or expanding a senior layer of their business development organization.
Are there remote senior level vp business development jobs?
Yes, though remote availability varies by industry and company stage. About 41% of senior level vp business development openings are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting that many organizations are willing to hire experienced leaders who can travel for key meetings or board-level engagements without being in a central office full time.
What makes a vp business development role senior level?
A senior level vp business development role carries ownership of strategy, not just execution. That means defining which markets or partnership categories the company pursues, setting the team's structure and goals, and being accountable to executive leadership for growth outcomes. Senior roles also typically involve mentoring business development managers and directors, influencing product or pricing decisions, and representing the function externally with partners and investors.
Which industries hire the most senior level vp business developments?
Senior level vp business development roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, Technology & Software, and Banking & Financial Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. These sectors tend to drive hiring at this level because complex deal structures, long sales cycles, or fast-moving competitive landscapes create sustained demand for experienced leaders who can own commercial relationships and build scalable growth functions.
