Accountant Jobs in New Hampshire: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a accountant in New Hampshire?
To become a licensed CPA in New Hampshire, you must pass the Uniform CPA Examination and meet the education and experience requirements set by the New Hampshire Board of Accountancy, which oversees licensure in the state. Most candidates complete a bachelor's degree with the required accounting coursework, accumulate supervised work experience under a licensed CPA, and then apply to the Board for their license before practicing publicly in New Hampshire.
How much do accountants make in New Hampshire?
Accountants in New Hampshire earn a median of about $83,470 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $59,920 for the lowest 10% to over $131,110 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire accountants in New Hampshire?
Employers hiring accountants in New Hampshire right now include Elm Grove Companies, City of Manchester, NH, and Peters Auto Sales, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. New Hampshire's mix of large healthcare systems, defense contractors, and regional manufacturing firms creates consistent year-round accounting demand across both public and private sectors.
Which New Hampshire cities have the most accountant jobs?
Manchester, Concord, and Salem are the New Hampshire cities with the most accountant openings. Manchester and Nashua anchor the bulk of postings because they host the state's largest corporate offices, healthcare networks, and financial services employers, while Concord draws demand as the state capital with government and regulatory accounting needs that keep openings consistent throughout the year.
Are there remote accountant jobs in New Hampshire?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 47% of accountant openings tied to New Hampshire are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how well the core work translates to a home office. Roles focused on tax preparation, financial reporting, and accounts payable are the most likely to offer fully remote or flexible arrangements compared to positions requiring on-site audit or physical inventory oversight.
How can I get hired as a accountant in New Hampshire with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for staff accountant or accounts payable coordinator roles, which New Hampshire employers like Dartmouth Health and larger Manchester-area manufacturers regularly open to new graduates. Completing the CPA exam sections early, even before full licensure, signals commitment and gives you an edge. Adjacent roles in bookkeeping or payroll at regional firms or nonprofits also provide the documented experience the New Hampshire Board of Accountancy requires for eventual licensure.
Where can I find and apply to accountant jobs in New Hampshire?
You can find and apply to accountant jobs in New Hampshire on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers actively hiring in the state. Search the roles that match your experience and specialization, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
