INTRODUCTION
The KRS department is seeking experienced, well-organized, and student-centered individuals to teach in any of our concentrations: Kinesiology, Allied Health Professions, Exercise Science, and Integrative Healthcare. Subject areas may include the following: Biomechanics, motor development, motor learning, physical education, adapted physical education, sport and exercise physiology, sport and exercise psychology, statistics in kinesiology, and other kinesiology related classes such as, but not limited to, activities classes. Candidates must have at least a Master’s degree, or specialized certification for activity classes, in a field of Kinesiology or related discipline.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF ADJUNCT KRS FACULTY:
- In conjunction with the academic program chair, develop an appropriate syllabus and schedule for the course or modify an existing syllabus and schedule, if needed.
- Select an appropriate textbook or other materials for the course, if needed.
- Work collaboratively with other faculty in the academic unit if the course is team-taught or is a co-requisite with other courses offered in the program.
- Develop appropriate course content, assessment methods, and overall course structure which meets TU standards.
- Provide instruction on the days and times the class is scheduled, including a final exam or other final assessment.
- Provide a learning environment that encourages student participation and leads to student learning.
- Provide appropriate feedback to students as well as regular communication with students through the semester.
- Provide data from course, as needed, for program assessment reports.
- Be responsive to communication from students, faculty, and administrators through email, phone calls, or other means.
Follow all TU policies, specifically relating to classroom management, retention efforts and grade submission.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of a master’s degree in the content-related area.
- Subject matter expertise in the material to be taught, to be determined by the academic unit.
- A professional license or certification in a content-related area, if required.
- Professional experience in the content-related area.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check and other program requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A doctoral degree in the content-related area to teach graduate level courses.
- Previous college / university teaching experience.
TU WILL PROVIDE:
- Orientation training to university and college operations and expectations. The academic unit may provide additional orientation depending on the class being taught.
- Textbooks or other course material, as needed.
- A TU email address to facilitate communication with students, faculty, and administrators.
- Access to required TU systems for teaching, retention, and submitting grades.
- Training on TU systems, as needed.
- Access to McFarlin Library.
