How do I get a administrative assistant job in Houston?
Focus your search on Houston's three biggest hiring concentrations: the Energy Corridor for oil and gas firms, the Texas Medical Center for hospital and research systems, and Downtown for law firms and financial services. Candidates with experience in calendar management, contract documentation, or medical records stand out locally. Tailoring your resume to the sector, whether energy, healthcare, or legal, gives you a clear edge over generalist applicants in Houston's competitive market.
Which companies hire administrative assistants in Houston?
Companies currently hiring administrative assistants in Houston include MD Anderson Cancer Center, Hines, and DaVita, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Houston's employer base is unusually broad, ranging from major integrated energy companies and hospital networks to regional law firms and corporate headquarters for logistics and engineering firms.
Are there remote administrative assistant jobs in Houston?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the role: desk-based and analytical administrative work is more remote-friendly than positions tied to physical office operations or executive support requiring an on-site presence. About 8% of administrative assistant openings tied to Houston are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common at corporate headquarters Downtown and in Greenway Plaza. Fully remote roles tend to concentrate in industries like professional services and technology.
How can I get a administrative assistant job in Houston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Houston is targeting large hospital systems in the Texas Medical Center or staffing agencies that place temporary administrative staff across energy and legal firms. Temp-to-hire roles are common here and frequently convert to permanent positions. Entry-level titles like office coordinator or receptionist are standard stepping stones. Familiarity with scheduling tools and basic document management software, even from coursework or volunteer work, gives Houston applicants a concrete advantage when applying.
