Agent Development Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a agent development in California?
Most agent development roles in California require holding or obtaining a California Department of Insurance license, typically a Life and Health or Property and Casualty license issued through the CDI. You'll pass the relevant state exam, complete the required pre-licensing education, and submit a license application through the CDI. Employers also look for a background in insurance sales, agency management, or adult learning and training.
Which companies hire agent developments in California?
Employers hiring agent developments in California right now include State Farm, ServiceNow, and Decagon, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. California's large insurance carrier presence and concentration of independent agency networks make it one of the most active states for this role year-round.
Which California cities have the most agent development jobs?
San Diego, Santa Clara, and San Francisco have the most agent development openings in California. Los Angeles dominates because of its density of regional insurance carrier offices and large independent agency networks, while San Francisco draws demand from financial services firms, and San Diego's growing professional services sector supports a consistent pipeline of openings.
Are there remote agent development jobs in California?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely analytical roles, since agent development work often involves in-person coaching, field visits, and hands-on training with new agents. About 60% of agent development openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of August 2026. The parts of the role most likely to go remote are onboarding curriculum design, virtual training delivery, and performance reporting.
How can I get hired as a agent development in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a producing insurance agent role at a California carrier or large independent agency, where you build the sales and coaching knowledge that agent development positions require. Large California carriers such as Farmers Insurance and Pacific Life run structured new-agent training programs that sometimes convert into internal development roles. Obtaining your California Department of Insurance license before applying signals commitment and removes a hiring barrier for most employers.
Where can I find and apply to agent development jobs in California?
You can find and apply to agent development jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current California openings updated regularly. Search the listings, find the roles that match your experience and target area, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
