Analytics Director Jobs in Illinois: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a analytics director in Illinois?
Analytics director roles in Illinois require no state-issued license, so the path runs through education and experience. Most Illinois employers expect a bachelor's degree in a quantitative field, a master's preferred, plus several years progressing through analyst and manager roles. Building expertise in an Illinois-dominant industry such as healthcare, insurance, or financial services gives candidates a clear edge over generalist applicants.
How much do analytics directors make in Illinois?
Analytics directors in Illinois earn a median of about $106,560 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $68,810 for the lowest 10% to over $168,880 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire analytics directors in Illinois?
Employers hiring analytics directors in Illinois right now include AbbVie, Fusion92, and CVS Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Illinois's deep concentration of insurance carriers, major retailers, and large hospital systems means openings appear regularly across both corporate headquarters and regional hubs throughout the state.
Which Illinois cities have the most analytics director jobs?
Chicago, Mettawa, and Northbrook have the most analytics director openings in Illinois. Chicago anchors demand as a headquarters city for major financial, healthcare, and consumer goods firms, while Naperville and Schaumburg attract openings from the large corporate campuses concentrated along the I-88 corridor west of the city.
Are there remote analytics director jobs in Illinois?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 88% of analytics director openings tied to Illinois are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the desk-based, data-driven nature of the role. Strategy, reporting, and stakeholder presentation work travels well remotely, while roles tied to on-site data infrastructure or regulated healthcare environments tend to require more in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a analytics director in Illinois with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a senior analyst or analytics manager role at a large Illinois employer before moving into a director position. Companies like Advocate Health Care, Discover Financial, and large Chicago-based insurers regularly hire analytics managers who grow into director roles over time. Building a portfolio of cross-functional projects, earning a certification in a platform like Tableau or SAS, and targeting high-volume analytics teams in insurance or healthcare will open the door fastest.
