Anesthetist Jobs in Washington: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a anesthetist in Washington?
Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists in Washington must hold an active CRNA license issued by the Washington State Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission, which requires completing an accredited nurse anesthesia program at the master's or doctoral level and passing the National Certification Examination administered by the NBCRNA. Anesthesiologist assistants practice under physician supervision and must hold a current Washington medical assistant license. Both pathways require maintaining current ACLS and BLS credentials.
How much do anesthetists make in Washington?
Anesthetists in Washington earn a median of about $274,390 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $218,640 for the lowest 10% to over $358,160 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire anesthetists in Washington?
Employers hiring anesthetists in Washington right now include Somnia, Gastro Health, and Sound Physicians, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Washington's large integrated health systems and affiliated ambulatory surgery centers account for the majority of consistent openings across the state.
Which Washington cities have the most anesthetist jobs?
Seattle, Tacoma, and Everett have the most anesthetist openings in Washington. Seattle dominates due to the concentration of major academic medical centers and large hospital systems, while Spokane and Tacoma generate steady demand from regional medical centers and specialty surgical practices serving eastern Washington and the South Sound respectively.
Are there remote anesthetist jobs in Washington?
Yes, but they're rare. Anesthesia is a hands-on clinical role performed at the patient's bedside, so the overwhelming majority of positions require on-site presence. About 0% of anesthetist openings tied to Washington are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those tend to be in care coordination, tele-preanesthesia assessment, or administrative oversight roles rather than direct patient care.
How can I get hired as a anesthetist in Washington with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to new-graduate CRNA residency or fellowship programs run by Washington health systems such as UW Medicine and MultiCare, which are designed for practitioners completing their first year of independent practice. Candidates coming from ICU nursing, surgical nursing, or anesthesia tech roles have the strongest lateral footing. Holding a current Washington nursing license and NBCRNA certification before applying removes the most common screening barriers.
Where can I find and apply to anesthetist jobs in Washington?
You can find and apply to anesthetist jobs in Washington on Migrate Mate, which lists current Washington openings from employers across the state. Search the listings for roles that match your specialty, experience level, and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
