Behavior Technician Jobs in Kentucky: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a behavior technician in Kentucky?
The most direct path is earning the Registered Behavior Technician credential through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board, which requires completing a 40-hour training program and passing the RBT competency assessment and exam. Kentucky does not have a separate state-issued behavior technician license, so the RBT credential is the recognized standard that most Kentucky employers require or prefer. A high school diploma is typically the minimum education, though many employers prefer candidates with coursework in psychology, education, or human services.
Which companies hire behavior technicians in Kentucky?
Companies currently hiring behavior technicians in Kentucky include Surpass Behavioral Health, SpringHealth Behavioral Health and Integrated Care, and Clarvida, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Kentucky's network of community mental health centers, autism specialty clinics, and regional behavioral health systems keeps demand consistent across both urban and rural areas of the state.
Which Kentucky cities have the most behavior technician jobs?
Louisville, Elizabethtown, and Hazard are the Kentucky cities with the most behavior technician openings, driven by the concentration of large behavioral health systems, children's services agencies, and ABA therapy providers headquartered in Louisville and Lexington, while Northern Kentucky's proximity to Cincinnati expands the hiring pool for that region.
Are there remote behavior technician jobs in Kentucky?
Yes, but they're rare. Because behavior technicians work directly with clients in homes, schools, and clinic settings, most positions require in-person presence by nature. About 0% of behavior technician openings tied to Kentucky are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those roles are typically limited to telehealth session support, parent training, or administrative coordination functions rather than direct one-on-one therapy delivery.
How can I get hired as a behavior technician in Kentucky with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to paraprofessional or behavioral health aide roles at Kentucky community mental health centers, where on-the-job RBT training is often provided. Seven Counties Services and Bluegrass Regional Behavioral Health both run structured new-staff orientation programs that bring candidates without direct ABA experience up to speed. Lateral entry is also common from roles like direct support professional, special education paraprofessional, and childcare worker. Completing the 40-hour RBT training independently before applying gives candidates a clear edge, even without paid experience on a resume.
Where can I find and apply to behavior technician jobs in Kentucky?
You can find and apply to behavior technician jobs in Kentucky on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from Kentucky employers. Search the listings, find the roles that match your experience and location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
