Behavioral Health Manager Jobs in Oregon: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a behavioral health manager in Oregon?
Most behavioral health manager roles in Oregon require a master's degree in social work, counseling, or psychology paired with an active Oregon clinical license such as the Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), issued through the Oregon Board of Licensed Social Workers or the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists. Employers typically expect several years of direct clinical experience before moving into a management role, and familiarity with Oregon Health Plan regulations strengthens any application.
Which companies hire behavioral health managers in Oregon?
Companies currently hiring behavioral health managers in Oregon include Aviva Health, PeaceHealth, and Legacy Health, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Oregon's integrated health systems and community mental health organizations tend to post the most consistent openings for this role across the state.
Which Oregon cities have the most behavioral health manager jobs?
Roseburg, Portland, and Eugene have the most behavioral health manager openings in Oregon. Portland drives the largest share of listings as the state's primary hub for major health systems, academic medical centers, and nonprofit behavioral health agencies, while Salem and Eugene generate steady demand through state government offices, regional hospital networks, and county-level community mental health programs.
Are there remote behavioral health manager jobs in Oregon?
Yes, but they're limited, since behavioral health manager roles often involve direct oversight of clinical staff, in-person program operations, and on-site compliance responsibilities. About 14% of behavioral health manager openings tied to Oregon are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, which reflects the hands-on nature of most positions. The functions most likely to allow remote work are utilization review, care coordination oversight, and administrative program management that does not require daily on-site clinical presence.
How can I get hired as a behavioral health manager in Oregon with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a lead clinician or senior case manager role first, building supervisory experience from within a team before stepping into a formal management title. Oregon Health and Science University, Legacy Health, and larger community mental health organizations like Lines for Life regularly hire clinicians into senior practitioner roles that carry mentorship or team-lead duties. Completing your Oregon LCSW or LPC licensure, even if newly issued, signals readiness and removes a common barrier that otherwise filters out early-career candidates.
