The RN Behavioral Health Overnight Manager will provide clinical and operational supervision to Nurses (RNs and LPNs) and behavioral health technicians on the day shifts (7:45a-8:15p). The Manager will use state guidelines to assure quality of service and rights of individuals served. The RN Behavioral Health Overnight manager will collaborate with the dayshift RN Manager, Medication Unit Manager, Operations Program Manager and Director, to ensure the smooth management of the programs. The RN Behavioral Health Overnight Manager will collaborate with the Daytime Manager to plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operations of the nursing department at the Behavioral Health Urgent Care and Facility Based Crisis Center, in accordance with federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern the facility. The RN Behavioral Health Dayshift manager will provide clinical leadership for the nursing unit in order to assure high quality standards are maintained. Education, Licensure, and Experience required for the position includes: AA, BS, MSN preferred.

RHA Behavioral Health Services is looking for a dedicated Nurse Manager (RN) to join our interdisciplinary healthcare team at our Facility-Based Crisis Center and Behavioral Health Urgent Care. Successful candidates will be passionate about supporting individuals experiencing behavioral health crises, with the belief that every individual served is capable of making positive change. They will focus on leadership of staff, operational and nursing functions, and client care at the Facility-Based Crisis Center and Behavioral Health Urgent Care. Client care includes assessment, care and treatment of clients at the facility; must adhere to standards of care as defined by the Nurse Practice Act and RHA.
Job Responsibilities
- Daily collaboration with Night RN Manager.
- Participates in the recruitment and selection of appropriate skill levels and numbers of nursing service personnel.
- Provides clinical oversight to all clinical and non-clinical staff on a daily basis.
- Conduct/arrange adequate training of all full-time and part-time employees in positions to meet effective program needs and to maintain employee competency.
- Manages the facility within allocated budgetary parameters.
- Responsible for the effective management of the facilities services on a daily basis, including planning, organizing, and directing all functions and assigned activities; establishment of goals and objectives, standards of performance and care; development of clinical policy and procedure; provision of direct clinical services; and evaluation of clinical staff, systems and improvement processes. Ensure that facility is staffed appropriately for day shifts.
- Develops the schedule for the day shift nursing and behavioral health technician staff, updates it at appropriate intervals.
- Provides professional nursing care including assessment, care and treatment of clients at the facility; must adhere to standards of care as defined by the Nurse Practice Act, RHA, and accrediting bodies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Requirements:
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems, for night shift employees.
- On call responsibility for night shifts.
- Has reliable personal transportation and is accessible by telephone.
Required Education/Experience/Certifications/Licenses
- RN with license to practice in North Carolina.
- Five years' experience working with Behavioral Health Clients preferred (not required).
- AA or BSN, MSN preferred.
Essential Qualifications/Skills
- Knowledge of the dynamics of the disease of chemical dependency and its treatment. Knowledge of resources available in the community to support recovery.
- Working knowledge of psychoactive substance abuse, dependency and the principles and techniques based on best practices. Commitment to the use of evidence based treatment and preventative methods.
- Ability to incorporate this knowledge into a training program for employees, assuring training and hours needed to attain certification.
- Ability to review program productivity and/or performance, and ensure budget is maintained within overnight staffing.
- Emotional stability, maturity, warmth, openness and the ability to work effectively with a diverse, indigent population. More than five (5) years continuous sobriety and/or recovery from mood altering drugs, with active participation in recovery, if applicable.
- Knowledge of federal confidentiality laws so that client confidentiality is assured. Must have knowledge of Client Rights Policy and believe those rights must be considered at all times.
- Ability to speak and write effectively for the purpose of maintaining effective relations with the staff, clients and stakeholders and for marketing programs to clients and the community.
- Ability to perform duties physically and mentally without harm to self or others.
