Bookkeeper Jobs in Georgia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a bookkeeper in Georgia?
Georgia does not require a state-issued license to work as a bookkeeper, so the path centers on education and voluntary credentials. Most employers expect at least an associate degree in accounting or a related field, often available through Georgia technical colleges like Georgia Northwestern or Gwinnett Technical College. Earning the Certified Bookkeeper designation from the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers strengthens your candidacy and signals competency to Georgia hiring managers without requiring a state exam.
Which companies hire bookkeepers in Georgia?
Employers hiring bookkeepers in Georgia right now include State of Georgia, Aprio, and AT&T, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Georgia's mix of Fortune 500 headquarters, regional healthcare networks, and a large small-business sector means bookkeeper demand comes from a broad range of industries rather than a single dominant employer type.
Which Georgia cities have the most bookkeeper jobs?
Atlanta, Alpharetta, and Marietta have the most bookkeeper openings in Georgia. Atlanta accounts for the largest share by far given its concentration of corporate headquarters, accounting firms, and healthcare systems, while Savannah's growth as a logistics and port hub and Augusta's expanding healthcare and military contracting sector generate consistent demand in those markets as well.
Are there remote bookkeeper jobs in Georgia?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 63% of bookkeeper openings tied to Georgia are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how well the role translates to cloud-based accounting tools. The tasks most commonly performed remotely include accounts payable processing, payroll runs, and monthly reconciliations, while roles tied to cash handling or physical document management are more likely to require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a bookkeeper in Georgia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is completing an accounting or bookkeeping certificate at one of Georgia's technical colleges, such as Atlanta Technical College or Savannah Technical College, then applying to accounts payable clerk or billing coordinator roles at regional healthcare systems or property management companies. These adjacent positions build the reconciliation and ledger skills employers expect. Adding a QuickBooks certification through an accredited provider gives candidates without experience a concrete credential that Georgia small-business employers value highly.
Where can I find and apply to bookkeeper jobs in Georgia?
You can find and apply to bookkeeper jobs in Georgia on Migrate Mate, which lists current Georgia openings updated regularly. Find roles that fit your experience and location, then apply directly to the employer from the listing.
