Business Development Consultant Jobs in Mississippi: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business development consultant in Mississippi?
Most business development consultant roles in Mississippi require a bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field, though no state-issued license is required for the role itself. Mississippi employers typically look for candidates with demonstrated sales or account management experience and familiarity with the state's key industries, including energy, healthcare, and logistics. Earning credentials like a Certified Business Development Expert designation strengthens a candidacy significantly.
Which companies hire business development consultants in Mississippi?
Companies currently hiring business development consultants in Mississippi include Cellular Sales, Verizon Authorized Retailer, Prime Communications, and Sysco, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Mississippi's energy, healthcare, and regional financial services sectors generate particularly consistent demand for this role.
Which Mississippi cities have the most business development consultant jobs?
Jackson, McComb, and Hattiesburg have the most business development consultant openings in Mississippi. Jackson's concentration of corporate headquarters, healthcare systems, and financial institutions drives the bulk of demand, while Gulfport's port-linked logistics and tourism economy and Ridgeland's growing technology and insurance sector add substantial opportunity outside the capital.
Are there remote business development consultant jobs in Mississippi?
Yes, and they are more common than in many fields, since much of the role involves calls, presentations, and relationship management that translate well to remote work. About 24% of business development consultant openings tied to Mississippi are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the desk-based nature of much of the work. Prospecting, pipeline management, and reporting tasks are the functions most frequently performed remotely.
How can I get hired as a business development consultant in Mississippi with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a junior sales representative or account coordinator role at a Mississippi-based employer, where you build client-facing skills before moving into a consultant title. Large Mississippi employers like Entergy Mississippi and regional healthcare networks occasionally recruit associate business development staff directly from Mississippi universities. A portfolio demonstrating a completed sales cycle, even from an internship or campus organization, and familiarity with CRM tools give candidates without formal experience a meaningful edge.
Where can I find and apply to business development consultant jobs in Mississippi?
