Business Development Manager Jobs in San Jose: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a business development manager job in San Jose?
Focus on employers in San Jose's dominant sectors: enterprise SaaS, semiconductor IP licensing, cybersecurity, and hardware. Roles cluster in North San Jose's tech corridor, the Downtown financial district, and the Santana Row area. Candidates who can show experience closing channel partnerships, managing OEM relationships, or building pipeline for complex B2B sales stand out most with San Jose hiring teams, where deal cycles tend to be long and technical stakeholders are often part of the conversation.
Which companies hire business development managers in San Jose?
Employers hiring business development managers in San Jose right now include Cisco, Google, and Northern California Small Business Development Center, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. San Jose's mix of large publicly traded tech firms, semiconductor companies, and well-funded growth-stage startups means openings range from strategic alliances roles at established enterprises to first-BD-hire positions at Series B companies.
Are there remote business development manager jobs in San Jose?
Yes, though business development manager roles are moderately remote-friendly since client relationship building and in-person partnership meetings remain central to the work. About 64% of business development manager openings tied to San Jose are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with the remote share highest for inside sales, partner enablement, and strategic alliances functions rather than field-facing enterprise roles.
How can I get a business development manager job in San Jose with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in San Jose is moving up from a sales development representative or account executive role at one of the city's many SaaS or semiconductor companies, where internal promotions into business development are common. San Jose employers including mid-size enterprise software firms and hardware startups regularly hire from their own SDR benches. Technical fluency, familiarity with channel or OEM deal structures, and a demonstrated ability to source meetings independently all improve your odds.
Which industries hire the most business development managers in San Jose?
The sectors hiring the most business development managers in San Jose are Electronics & Hardware and Investment & Asset Management, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. San Jose's position as the physical center of Silicon Valley means those sectors drive outsized local demand, particularly for roles focused on technology partnerships, licensing agreements, and enterprise channel expansion.
