Business Intelligence Manager Jobs in Washington: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business intelligence manager in Washington?
Business intelligence manager is not a state-licensed role in Washington, so there is no Washington-specific exam or registration required. Most hiring managers in Washington expect a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a quantitative field, combined with several years of progressive experience in data or analytics. Earning a vendor credential such as Microsoft's Power BI Data Analyst certification strengthens a candidacy, and Washington's tech-heavy market places particular weight on cloud platform experience.
How much do business intelligence managers make in Washington?
Business intelligence managers in Washington earn a median of about $163,350 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $79,930 for the lowest 10% to over $220,040 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire business intelligence managers in Washington?
Employers hiring business intelligence managers in Washington right now include Amazon, Google, and Amazon Web Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Washington's concentration of global technology headquarters and large retail and aerospace operations means demand is relatively consistent year-round rather than seasonal.
Which Washington cities have the most business intelligence manager jobs?
Seattle, Bellevue, and Kirkland have the most business intelligence manager openings in Washington. Seattle drives the largest share because of its density of technology companies, healthcare systems, and corporate headquarters, while Bellevue and Redmond reflect the scale of Microsoft's campus and the broader Eastside technology corridor that has grown around it.
Are there remote business intelligence manager jobs in Washington?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 83% of business intelligence manager openings tied to Washington are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the desk-based and cloud-connected nature of the work. Dashboard development, reporting automation, and stakeholder analysis are the parts of the role most frequently offered remotely, while roles involving direct collaboration with executive or product teams tend to require at least a hybrid schedule.
How can I get hired as a business intelligence manager in Washington with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a BI analyst or data analyst role first, then progressing to management. Large Washington employers like Microsoft, Amazon, and Providence Health run new-graduate rotational and associate programs in data and analytics that build directly toward BI leadership. Building a portfolio of Power BI or Tableau dashboards using public datasets, earning a cloud analytics certification, and targeting analyst roles at mid-size Washington technology or retail companies are the steps that most consistently open the door.
