Job Description:

The Buyer is responsible for supporting the procurement of materials, products, and services needed for company operations. This role focuses on placing purchase orders, maintaining supplier relationships, tracking deliveries, and ensuring items are received on time and at the correct cost and quality.

Key Responsibilities

- Create and process purchase orders based on approved requisitions.
- Review and approve auto generated requisitions routed to WMU.
- Review supplier order confirmations and update Oracle accordingly.
- Expedite past due and urgent orders with suppliers to prevent production delays.
- Order parts and materials to support Aftermarket demand.
- Create and manage intercompany inventory transfer requests.
- Collaborate closely with Production, Planning, Engineering, and Inventory teams to support manufacturing schedules.
- Communicate with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, lead times, and delivery schedules.
- Monitor open orders and follow up proactively to ensure on time delivery.
- Verify order accuracy and resolve discrepancies involving quantity, pricing, or quality issues.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and ensure data integrity within the ERP system.
- Assist with supplier evaluations and help maintain the approved vendor list.
- Coordinate with internal departments such as Manufacturing, Quality, and Accounting to resolve order related issues.
- Support cost control initiatives by reviewing pricing, identifying savings opportunities, and preventing unnecessary spend.
- Ensure all purchasing activities follow company policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree or coursework in business or supply chain preferred
- 0–2 years of purchasing, administrative, or supply chain experience
- Basic understanding of purchasing or inventory processes
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook); ERP experience a plus
