Case Manager Jobs in Alabama: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a case manager in Alabama?
Most case manager positions in Alabama require at minimum a bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related human services field. Roles within clinical or behavioral health settings typically require licensure through the Alabama Board of Social Work Examiners or the Alabama Board of Examiners in Counseling. The national Certified Case Manager credential issued by the Commission for Case Manager Certification is widely recognized by Alabama employers and can strengthen your application considerably.
Which companies hire case managers in Alabama?
Companies currently hiring case managers in Alabama include Compassus, Prohealth, and Huntsville Hospital Health System, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Alabama's large hospital networks, state behavioral health agencies, and managed care organizations are among the most active and consistent sources of case manager openings across the state.
Which Alabama cities have the most case manager jobs?
Birmingham, Huntsville, and Montgomery consistently show the most case manager openings in Alabama. Birmingham drives the largest volume given the concentration of UAB Medicine, major behavioral health providers, and the state's largest Medicaid managed care footprint, while Huntsville's growing healthcare infrastructure and Montgomery's role as the state capital and home to key human services agencies account for strong demand in those markets.
Are there remote case manager jobs in Alabama?
Yes, but they're a smaller share of the overall market. About 33% of case manager openings tied to Alabama are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the role's frequent need for in-person client contact, home visits, and coordination with local service providers. The portions of case management work most likely to go remote are utilization review, insurance-based care coordination, and telephonic disease management programs.
How can I get hired as a case manager in Alabama with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for case management assistant or care coordinator roles at Alabama's larger hospital systems and community mental health centers, which routinely hire candidates with a relevant degree and little direct experience. UAB Health System and the Alabama Department of Human Resources both run structured new-hire cohorts that provide supervised caseloads. Moving laterally from roles like patient navigator, social services aide, or benefits counselor is also a recognized path. Earning a case management certification early, even before your first dedicated role, signals commitment and helps you stand out to Alabama hiring managers.
Where can I find and apply to case manager jobs in Alabama?
You can find and apply to case manager jobs in Alabama on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers across the state. Search the listings, find roles that match your experience and specialty, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
