Chef Jobs in New Hampshire: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a chef in New Hampshire?
New Hampshire does not require a state-issued culinary license for chefs, but food handlers working in commercial kitchens must hold a valid food protection manager certification such as ServSafe, recognized by the New Hampshire Division of Public Health. Most employers expect candidates to complete a culinary program at a community college such as Manchester Community College or gain equivalent experience through progressively responsible kitchen roles, starting as a line cook or prep cook and advancing through brigade ranks.
Which companies hire chefs in New Hampshire?
New Hampshire chef roles are posted by Pyramid Global Hospitality, The Common Man, and FISD and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Resort properties in the White Mountains and the Lakes Region, along with Portsmouth's growing independent restaurant scene, are among the most active employer categories in the state.
Which New Hampshire cities have the most chef jobs?
Nashua, Hanover, and Concord have the most chef openings in New Hampshire. Manchester anchors the state's largest food and hospitality market, Portsmouth draws demand from its established restaurant district and seasonal tourism, and resort-heavy areas such as Lincoln and Laconia generate consistent volume from properties that operate year-round banquet and dining programs.
Are there remote chef jobs in New Hampshire?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of chef openings tied to New Hampshire are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the hands-on nature of kitchen work. The small share of remote opportunities tends to involve culinary consulting, menu development, or food writing rather than production cooking.
How can I get hired as a chef in New Hampshire with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying as a prep cook or dishwasher at a resort, hotel, or high-volume restaurant and moving into line cook roles once kitchen skills are demonstrated. Properties such as Omni Mount Washington Resort and ski-area lodges in the White Mountains routinely hire seasonal kitchen staff without extensive credentials. Completing a culinary certificate at Manchester Community College and earning a ServSafe food protection manager certification gives candidates a meaningful edge over other entry-level applicants.
Where can I find and apply to chef jobs in New Hampshire?
You can find and apply to chef jobs in New Hampshire on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings for roles that match your experience level and kitchen specialty, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
