Client Service Associate Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a client service associate in California?
Most California employers require a bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field, though some will consider equivalent experience. For roles at broker-dealers and registered investment advisers, hiring managers commonly expect or sponsor candidates for FINRA licensing, particularly the Series 7 and Series 66, which are administered through FINRA and recognized statewide. Entry-level candidates who complete these exams before applying are consistently preferred over those who haven't started the process.
Which companies hire client service associates in California?
Companies currently hiring client service associates in California include GHD, Morgan Stanley, and Banfield Pet Hospital, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. California's concentration of wealth management firms, regional banks, and insurance carriers means steady demand from both national brands and well-established regional players.
Which California cities have the most client service associate jobs?
Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego have the most client service associate openings in California. Los Angeles and San Francisco drive the largest volumes given their dense concentrations of financial institutions, private wealth management offices, and insurance headquarters, while San Diego's growing fintech sector and established military-affiliated financial services firms add meaningful demand in Southern California.
Are there remote client service associate jobs in California?
Yes, and more than many service roles, because client service associates in financial services frequently handle work that can be done by phone, email, and account management systems. About 42% of client service associate openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the desk-based nature of much of the work. Account administration and inbound client support tend to be the most remote-friendly functions within the role.
How can I get hired as a client service associate in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a bank teller, personal banker, or retail branch role at a California institution like Bank of America, Wells Fargo, or a regional credit union, which builds the client-facing and compliance fundamentals hiring managers look for. Large California broker-dealers and asset managers also run associate development programs that onboard candidates without prior investment experience and sponsor them through FINRA licensing. Completing even the Series 7 exam before applying, or holding a FINRA Securities Industry Essentials certificate, gives candidates a measurable edge over the general applicant pool.
Where can I find and apply to client service associate jobs in California?
You can find and apply to client service associate jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current California openings in one place. Search the roles available, find the ones that match your background and location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
