Customer Success Representative Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a customer success representative in California?
There is no state-issued license or exam required to work as a customer success representative in California. Most California employers hire candidates with a bachelor's degree in business, communications, or a related field alongside demonstrated experience in a client-facing role. Building familiarity with CRM tools like Salesforce and earning a vendor-recognized certification, such as the Gainsight Certified Customer Success Associate, strengthens applications at California's many SaaS and technology companies.
How much do customer success representatives make in California?
Customer success representatives in California earn a median of about $49,560 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $38,110 for the lowest 10% to over $75,700 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire customer success representatives in California?
Employers hiring customer success representatives in California right now include Sunrun, ADT, and Moon Valley Nursery, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's dense concentration of SaaS headquarters and enterprise technology companies means the market remains one of the most consistent sources of customer success openings nationwide.
Which California cities have the most customer success representative jobs?
San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Jose have the most customer success representative openings in California. San Francisco and the broader Bay Area generate the highest volume driven by the region's concentration of SaaS and cloud software headquarters, while Los Angeles reflects demand from media technology and e-commerce companies, and San Diego draws on its growing life sciences software and defense technology sectors.
Are there remote customer success representative jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 22% of customer success representative openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how naturally the role translates to video calls, digital onboarding platforms, and async communication. Fully remote positions are most common in mid-market and enterprise account management, where teams are distributed across multiple time zones.
How can I get hired as a customer success representative in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving from a closely adjacent role such as technical support specialist, sales development representative, or implementation coordinator at a California SaaS or technology company. Large California employers including Salesforce, Zendesk, and Intuit run associate customer success or rotational programs designed for candidates without direct experience. Completing a recognized CRM certification, building a portfolio of documented client outcomes from any customer-facing work, and targeting companies in growth stages often accelerates a first hire.
Where can I find and apply to customer success representative jobs in California?
You can find and apply to customer success representative jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current California openings updated regularly. Find roles that fit your experience level and location, then apply directly to the employer through the listing.
