Clinic Registered Nurse Jobs in Indiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a clinic registered nurse in Indiana?
You become a clinic registered nurse in Indiana by earning an associate or bachelor's degree in nursing, passing the NCLEX-RN, and obtaining an active RN license through the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency. Indiana participates in the Nurse Licensure Compact, so nurses already licensed in a compact state can practice in Indiana without a separate state license. Outpatient clinic employers commonly prefer candidates with at least some inpatient or clinical rotation experience before hiring into a dedicated clinic role.
How much do clinic registered nurses make in Indiana?
Clinic registered nurses in Indiana earn a median of about $83,500 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $66,750 for the lowest 10% to over $105,750 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire clinic registered nurses in Indiana?
Employers hiring clinic registered nurses in Indiana right now include Deaconess Health System, Ascension, and Eskenazi Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Indiana's large integrated health systems, including those anchored in Indianapolis and Fort Wayne, drive most of the consistent outpatient clinic hiring across the state.
Which Indiana cities have the most clinic registered nurse jobs?
Indianapolis, Evansville, and Newburgh have the most clinic registered nurse openings in Indiana. Indianapolis leads because it is home to the state's largest health system campuses and a dense network of multispecialty outpatient clinics, while Fort Wayne and South Bend draw openings from major regional health systems like Parkview Health and Beacon Health System that operate large ambulatory care networks outside the capital.
Are there remote clinic registered nurse jobs in Indiana?
Yes, but they're rare. Clinic registered nursing is fundamentally a hands-on, patient-facing role, so fully remote positions are uncommon. About 38% of clinic registered nurse openings tied to Indiana are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those tend to be telephonic triage, care management, or chronic disease coaching roles that do not require in-person patient contact.
How can I get hired as a clinic registered nurse in Indiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to new-graduate nurse residency programs at Indiana University Health or Ascension St. Vincent, which include outpatient rotations that can lead directly to clinic placements. Candidates coming from medical assistant, licensed practical nurse, or patient care technician roles are commonly considered for junior clinic RN openings. Holding an active Indiana RN license, a current BLS card, and any documented clinical hours from nursing school rotations strengthens an application considerably for first-time candidates.
Where can I find and apply to clinic registered nurse jobs in Indiana?
