The Role
The Clinical Supervisor provides day-to-day clinical supervision to an assigned group of clinicians and QMHPs in our Community-Based or Outpatient program and is responsible for the quality of care their clients receive. You will serve as LMHP of record for QMHP staff, provide Board-registered supervision to residents and supervisees, review and co-sign documentation, consult on risk and complex cases, and coach staff toward consistent, ethical, evidence-informed practice. This role reports to the Program Director; the Program Director runs the program, and you make sure the clinical work is done well every day.
What You'll Do
- Provide scheduled individual and group supervision to QMHPs, residents, supervisees, interns, and licensed clinicians; maintain supervision logs and Board documentation.
- Be available for same-day consultation on safety planning, crisis response, mandated reporting, and incident reporting.
- Review and co-sign assessments, ISPs, progress notes, quarterly reviews, and discharge summaries; track client progress and act on stalled cases.
- Conduct chart reviews and keep records ready for DBHDS, CARF, and payer audits; coach staff on documentation timeliness and medical-necessity standards.
- Lead huddles and case reviews, help resolve scheduling and coverage issues, and respond to clinician escalations within 24 hours.
- Orient and train new clinicians and QMHPs, provide ongoing performance coaching, and report supervision and documentation status to the Program Director.
- Carry a limited direct-service caseload as agreed with the Program Director.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management to support the operational needs and overall goals of the company.
Requirements
- Master's degree in social work, counseling, or a closely related behavioral health field.
- Active, unrestricted Virginia LPC or LCSW with at least two years of post-licensure clinical experience.
- Eligible to provide Board-registered clinical supervision in Virginia (LPC: 3 graduate credits or 20 CE hours in supervision; LCSW: 3-credit course or 14 CE hours). Candidates who can complete the training before registering as a supervisor will be considered.
- At least two years in community-based or outpatient behavioral health in a DBHDS-licensed setting; working knowledge of DBHDS and DMAS/Medicaid documentation requirements.
- Valid Virginia driver's license, reliable vehicle, and current auto insurance; travel to client homes and community sites is required.
- Ability to pass a fingerprint-based background check, DSS Central Registry search, sex-offender registry check, and OIG/SAM exclusion screening.
Preferred
- Prior experience supervising QMHPs, residents, supervisees, or interns.
- Experience with intensive in-home or mental health skill-building services, CSA/FAPT-funded services, or DJJ-involved youth.
- Experience with chart audits, CARF accreditation, or DBHDS inspections; bilingual English/Spanish.
