Mother’s Refuge is currently accepting applications for a part-time master’s level therapist with an enthusiasm and passion for helping restore hope and empower young mothers and children who have experienced homelessness. Candidates should be fully or provisionally licensed with their LPC or LCSW in Missouri.
This is an exciting time to join the team at Mother’s Refuge, as we are expanding to serve more mothers and children than ever before! Therapist selected may be placed with clients in our maternity shelter, transitional living program, or aftercare program. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in various therapeutic techniques and approaches, with a focus on providing high-quality care to individuals. This role is essential in facilitating the emotional and psychological well-being of our clients through tailored therapeutic interventions.
Summation of Job Responsibilities:
1. Work collaboratively onsite with Mother’s Refuge professional team, including case managers, coordinators, direct care staff, parents, and professional team members.
2. Complete initial assessments, diagnostic assessments, and treatment plans with all clients to establish needs and inform treatment goals.
3. Meet at least bi-monthly with each client for individual or family therapy.
4. Conduct group therapy with clients in the housing program.
5. Willingness to meet clients are a various locations to conduct therapy. Most sessions will occur during normal business hours (9AM-5PM), but flexibility is needed to work around client schedules, which will occasionally require sessions during evening hours.
6. Maintain confidentiality with each resident during the treatment process. Inform the leadership team of any concerns or important information.
7. Write thorough therapy notes following each session to document the clients’ progress.
8. Complete a detailed summary report for each resident monthly.
9. Complete the appropriate assessments with each resident during sessions to gauge client progress.
10. Facilitate a Quarterly Treatment Plan Review Meeting with the residents’ professional team. Document goals and updates to the treatment plan.
11. Maintain documentation in all grant tracking spreadsheets as required by the leadership team and funders.
Qualifications for the Position:
- Education: Master’s Degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Professional Counseling or related field.
- Certification: Must hold license to practice therapy in the state of Missouri (LCSW or LPC)
- Experience: 3+ years’ experience preferred in mental health counseling. Knowledgeable and experience working with teenagers, single parents, children, and homeless.
- Character: Must embrace the mission and values of Mother’s Refuge.
- Skill Set: Strong interpersonal communication and writing skills. Have knowledge and experience in appropriate therapeutic techniques. Possess skills to work with and motivate clients. Be a “self-starter” and goal driven to initiate positive therapy sessions. Exhibit follow through on tasks, goals, and meetings. Familiar with clinical implications of trauma, attachment, homelessness, and poverty.
Requirements for the Job:
- Hours: Part-Time- 20 hours/week. Flexible Schedule – May be required to work some evenings and weekends to meet with clients.
- Language: Bilingual Spanish/English Highly Preferred
- Dress Code: Conservative casual clothing is acceptable in the shelter. Dress clothing should be worn while attending meetings, community functions and representing Mother’s Refuge to the public.
