Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Service Tech Jobs at AMETEK Jobs
Align your credentials with LCA job requirements
AMETEK files a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before any H-1B petition. Review the prevailing wage level tied to the Service Tech role and make sure your resume reflects the specific skills and equipment experience listed, not just general technical background.
Target AMETEK divisions with field service demand
AMETEK's Electronic Instruments Group and Electromechanical Group both run active field service operations. Applying directly to divisions that service calibration, testing, or motion control equipment puts you closer to hiring managers who regularly onboard sponsored technicians.
Document hands-on hardware certifications before applying
Service Tech roles at AMETEK in electronics and hardware often require certifications like IPC-A-610 or manufacturer-specific training on test instruments. Having these documented before your application signals job readiness and reduces employer hesitation around sponsorship timelines.
Clarify your OPT or CPT timeline during the interview
AMETEK has sponsored F-1 OPT candidates for Service Tech positions. Be upfront about your authorization end date and the 60-day unemployment limit. Giving your recruiter a clear window helps them align offer timing with your status and any STEM OPT extension eligibility.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open Service Tech roles at AMETEK
AMETEK posts Service Tech openings across multiple divisions and locations. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for AMETEK roles tagged with visa sponsorship so you're not manually sifting through postings that won't support your status.
Prepare for USCIS scrutiny on specialty occupation classification
USCIS has challenged H-1B petitions for technician roles where the degree requirement isn't clearly tied to the job duties. Work with AMETEK's HR or immigration counsel to ensure your petition letter specifies the theoretical and technical knowledge your role demands, not just hands-on tasks.

Find Service Tech at AMETEK JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does AMETEK sponsor H-1B visas for Service Techs?
Yes, AMETEK does sponsor H-1B visas for Service Tech roles, though sponsorship decisions depend on the specific position, division, and your qualifications. Because H-1B sponsorship requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, positions with clear degree requirements in engineering or electronics are stronger candidates for approval than general maintenance roles.
How do I apply for Service Tech jobs at AMETEK?
Apply through AMETEK's careers portal at ametek.com or through Migrate Mate, which filters for AMETEK roles that support visa sponsorship. When applying, tailor your resume to the specific division and equipment type listed in the job description. AMETEK's Service Tech hiring is distributed across its business units, so targeting the right division matters as much as the application itself.
Which visa types are commonly used for Service Tech roles at AMETEK?
AMETEK sponsors H-1B, TN, J-1, F-1 OPT, and F-1 CPT visas for Service Tech positions. TN visas are an efficient option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering or technician categories. F-1 OPT is common for recent graduates entering field service roles, with STEM OPT extensions available if the position meets the technical degree requirement.
What qualifications does AMETEK expect for sponsored Service Tech positions?
AMETEK's Service Tech roles in electronics and hardware typically require an associate's or bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electronics technology, or a closely related field, combined with hands-on experience servicing precision instruments or electromechanical systems. Certifications in areas like calibration, IPC standards, or specific test equipment platforms strengthen your profile, particularly for H-1B specialty occupation eligibility.
How do I navigate the visa filing timeline when joining AMETEK as a Service Tech?
If you're on F-1 OPT, AMETEK needs to initiate your H-1B petition before the April 1 filing window for an October 1 start, which means your offer should ideally be in place by February or March of that year. TN visas can be processed faster at the border or a U.S. consulate for eligible nationals, making them a practical bridge while an H-1B is pending. Confirm with AMETEK's HR team early about which path applies to your situation.
