Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices.
Visa sponsorship: We do sponsor visas! However, we aren't able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this.
We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification. Not all strong candidates will meet every single qualification as listed. We think AI systems like the ones we're building have enormous social and ethical implications. We think this makes representation even more important, and we strive to include a range of diverse perspectives on our team.

How we're different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
Come work with us!
Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.

Frame Your Leadership Around AI Safety
Anthropic's executive hiring centers on mission alignment with responsible AI development. Before applying, reframe your resume and cover letter to connect your management experience directly to policy, safety infrastructure, or scaling research organizations, not just general business outcomes.
Verify Your Role Qualifies as Specialty Occupation
USCIS requires H-1B roles to meet the specialty occupation standard. Executive Management positions can face scrutiny if duties read as general management. Work with your attorney to document that the role demands a specific degree field, not just any bachelor's degree.
Target Roles Where Anthropic Files LCAs Early
Search the DOL's LCA disclosure data for Anthropic's active filings before applying. This tells you which Executive Management job titles they're actively sponsoring, which strengthens your targeting and helps you match your application to roles already moving through the pipeline.
Use Migrate Mate to Identify Anthropic Openings
Anthropic posts Executive Management roles across multiple channels, and not all listings are flagged as visa-sponsoring. Browse Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Anthropic roles open to sponsored candidates, so you're applying where sponsorship is already confirmed.
Get Your E-3 or H-1B1 Documents in Order Early
If you're an Australian or Chilean or Singaporean national, Anthropic's sponsorship history covers E-3 and H-1B1 visa classifications. These require a certified Labor Condition Application before your consular appointment, so coordinate with your employer contact to start that DOL filing well in advance.
Negotiate Sponsorship Commitment Before Signing
Anthropic's offer letters for Executive Management roles don't always specify which visa category they'll file under. Before you sign, confirm in writing whether they'll pursue H-1B, E-3, or another classification, and whether premium processing is included to meet your start date.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Anthropic sponsor H-1B visas for Executive Managements?
Yes, Anthropic sponsors H-1B visas for Executive Management roles. The company has an active and consistent sponsorship track record for this function, including filings across multiple H-1B classifications. If you're targeting an executive-level role at Anthropic, H-1B sponsorship is a realistic path, though the annual lottery and specialty occupation requirements still apply.
How do I apply for Executive Management jobs at Anthropic?
Applications go through Anthropic's careers page, where Executive Management roles are listed by team and function. You can also find Anthropic's visa-sponsoring openings on Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for roles open to internationally sponsored candidates. Tailor your application to Anthropic's AI safety mission, and be explicit about your visa status and sponsorship needs early in the process.
Which visa types does Anthropic typically use for Executive Management roles?
Anthropic sponsors H-1B, H-1B1 visa, and E-3 visas for Executive Management positions. H-1B is the most broadly available classification for international candidates. H-1B1 is specific to Chilean and Singaporean nationals, while E-3 is available only to Australian citizens. All three require a certified Labor Condition Application filed with the DOL before the visa process can proceed.
What qualifications does Anthropic expect for Executive Management roles?
Anthropic's executive roles typically require deep domain expertise in a relevant field such as AI research, policy, legal, or technical operations, combined with demonstrated leadership at scale. For visa sponsorship purposes, your degree field should align directly with the role's core function. General management backgrounds without a connection to AI, safety, or research infrastructure are less likely to clear the specialty occupation standard USCIS applies.
How do I handle visa timing if I get an Executive Management offer from Anthropic?
Timeline depends on your current status and visa classification. E-3 and H-1B1 visa applications through consular processing typically resolve within a few weeks once the LCA is certified by the DOL, which can take up to seven business days. H-1B cap cases are subject to the annual April lottery with an October 1 start date, so if you're cap-subject, plan for a potential gap of several months between offer and start date.
